Cee Lo Green lands probation in ecstasy plea deal
Singer/rapper Cee Lo Green has been handed three years of probation and a community service sentence after striking a plea deal relating to an ecstasy charge.
The Forget You hitmaker, real name Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, hit headlines last year (13) after an ex-girlfriend accused him of slipping her ecstasy before having sex with her following a dinner date in Los Angeles in 2012.
He pleaded not guilty to the claim at the time of his booking, but
subsequently agreed to plead no contest to a felony count of
sharing ecstasy in a deal which allows him to maintain his
innocence.
He entered the plea during a brief court hearing on Friday
(29Aug14), when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Young ordered
the star to serve probation.
The 39 year old must also complete 360 hours of community work at
the MusiCares Foundation of the Recording Academy, which provides
financial aid and medical care to musicians who have fallen on hard
times. He must also attend 52 private alcohol counseling sessions,
reports TMZ.com.
Prosecutors had previously dropped a charge of sexual assault
against Green on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
The plaintiff, whose identity has not been revealed, alleged Green
spiked her drink during a date in November, 2012, and she later
woke up naked in a bed with him in the room.
