Cee Lo Green is a huge fan of Gary Glitter's music

Cee Lo Green has confessed he is a huge fan of disgraced pop star Gary Glitter's songs.

The Crazy hitmaker is working on his next solo album and he reveals the record, titled Girl Power and due for release in September (14), has been inspired by several of his favorite acts, including Glitter.

However, he is adamant he is only a fan of the glam rock icon's music and has no time for Glitter, who has served a jail sentence in Vietnam for child sex offenses.

Discussing the inspirations for his new album, the Gnarls Barkley star tells Q magazine, "English pop like Gary Numan, The Human League and Duran Duran. It's applying that to urban music and making it sound current again... I'm probably not supposed to say this, but for a while earlier in this project I had really got into Gary Glitter... It was singalong and raunchy rock 'n' roll.

"I'm very aware of the crimes (Glitter) committed so I would not like to have this misconstrued. But I appreciate the musical contribution and (what he did) sonically."

Glitter was jailed for three years by a Vietnamese court in 2006 for committing obscene acts with minors. In 1999, he was sentenced to four months prison in the U.K. for downloading child porn.
