Carol sweeps Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association Awards

Lesbian drama Carol was the toast of the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association Awards after winning five prizes, including Film of the Year.

The film was also named the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) Film of the Year, with star Cate Blanchett named Film Actress of the Year, and the movie's writers scored the Screenplay of the Year prize.

Carol filmmaker Todd Haynes went home with two trophies, including Director of the Year, as well as a separate prize for his exceptional work with the Wilde Artist of the Year award.

Leonardo DiCaprio scored Film Actor of the Year for his role in The Revenant, while Amy Winehouse documentary Amy nabbed the Documentary of the Year honor.

Meanwhile in the TV categories, Transparent had the most wins with three, including TV Comedy of the Year, LGBTQ Show of the Year, and TV Actor of the Year for Jeffrey Tambor.

Fargo and Orange is the New Black tied for TV Drama of the Year, and Taraji P. Henson was named TV Actress of the Year for Empire.
