Bushnell splits from husband

Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell has split from her ballet dancer husband Charles Askegard after nine years of marriage.

The writer, whose newspaper column spawned the hit TV show starring Sarah Jessica Parker, filed for divorce on Friday (02Dec11).

Bushnell says in a statement, "We had some wonderful times in our nine-year marriage, and I still care about Charles as a person. I respect his desire to pursue his own happiness and hope that we will continue to be friends in the future."

Askegard tells the New York Post, "This is a difficult time for me. Although we have sadly grown apart, I will always respect and care about Candace and appreciate the time we spent together."
