Brooklyn Beckham drops book tour selfie ban

Brooklyn Beckham will allow fans to take photographs with him on his upcoming book tour.

The 18-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham is releasing his debut photography collection, and later this week (end02Jul17) begins a book signing tour in Manchester, England.

Terms and conditions published by bosses at British book retailer Waterstones, whose stores will host the signings, stated fans would be unable to take selfies with him.

A spokesperson for Brooklyn's publisher Penguin Random House told WENN that the original restrictions were imposed on the advice of U.K. authorities as they had issued a heightened security alert, but now fans would be able to take supervised selfies.

"Fans at signings will all have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Brooklyn when they get a copy of their book signed," they said. "A member of staff will also be on hand to take photos with each guest's phone to ensure each person can enjoy the experience of meeting Brooklyn while he signs their book. This is a precaution in case there is not time for everyone to take a selfie. Brooklyn wants to ensure everyone has the opportunity to get their picture."

Britain's security bosses lowered the country's terror threat level from 'critical' to 'severe' on 27 May (17). It had been raised in the wake of the suicide bomb attack at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester, England on 22 May (17).

Brooklyn's book, titled What I See, has received some criticism from reviewers who've seen advance copies.

But Penguin Random House bosses have defended their decision to publish the work, telling Britain's i newspaper, "Teenagers lives are filled with the visual image and we know Brooklyn's photos resonate with his huge young following, who avidly follow his life through his photography. We are proud to bring these images together in a book for a young generation for the first time."

What I See hits shelves from Thursday (29Jun17).
