Britney Spears can't remember meeting Taylor Swift

Britney Spears has no recollection of her two previous meetings with Taylor Swift.

The Toxic superstar sat for an interview for Australian radio's the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday (01Aug16) and agreed to take part in a light-hearted game of Who Would You Rather?, during which she was asked to choose between pairs of top celebrities.

However, one question left fans of Britney and Taylor surprised after the mother-of-two insisted the pair had never crossed paths.

"Who would you rather sit next to on a 24-hour flight to Sydney: Taylor Swift or Katy Perry?" the hosts asked, as they pitted the two pop rivals against one another.

"I don't know! I don't know, that's hard!" Britney exclaimed. "They're both so cool, I don't know."

"I've briefly met Katy Perry at the Smurfs movie premiere (in 2013)," she continued. "Maybe because I've met Katy Perry I would say Taylor Swift, because I've never met her before."

Her comment prompted Twitter users to dig up an old picture of Spears posing with Taylor at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and the image has since gone viral.

It's not the only meeting between the pair - fans have also uncovered a rare photo of Britney with a young Taylor in 2003, long before the 26-year-old found fame, but it appears the Shake It Off singer failed to make much of an impression on the 34-year-old during either occasion.

Despite the interview slip-up, Britney has made it known she is a big fan of Taylor's.

"I love Taylor Swift," she told E! News last year (15). "I think she's adorable. I love her music. Her music makes me so happy. She's very level-headed. She's a very, very smart girl, very wise."
