Britney Spears allowed to press on with property sale
Britney Spears has been given permission to accept a $4.25 million bid on her Beverly Hills mansion after her conservators cancelled a court hearing about the property sale.
The Toxic hitmaker's father Jamie is in charge of her legal and business affairs and, under the legal arrangement, he and his co-conservators have the right to meet with a judge to determine if the sale of the house is in Spears' best interests.
A hearing, which would have prolonged the sale and allowed other
prospective buyers to submit higher bids, was scheduled for
Wednesday (25Apr12), but her representatives recently scrapped the
court date and have since approved the $4.25 million offer, which
was made by an unidentified buyer last month (Mar12).
The decision allows Spears to sell off the exclusive house, where
she suffered her much-publicised breakdown which led to her
conservatorship in 2008, reports TMZ.com.
The pop star purchased the home, located in the exclusive gated
community the Summit, in 2007 for $6.8 million.
Spears' fiance Jason Trawick recently petitioned to join the
singer's dad as a co-conservator.
