Brantley Gilbert engaged to hometown sweetheart

Country star Brantley Gilbert is preparing to tie the knot after proposing to his on-off girlfriend.

The Bottoms Up hitmaker popped the question to his mystery girlfriend, who hails from his hometown of Jefferson, Georgia, and told radio host Bobby Bones on Tuesday (21Oct14), that she said yes.

Talking about his romance with his new fiancee, the said, "It was one of those things that was on and off for a few years - mostly on - and then she was the one that got away for about five years.

"It came back around and I've never been happier. This little one, she's the one, and I'm a pretty stoked dude. I'm pretty excited to say the least."

In fact, Gilbert admitted he has used his unnamed fiancee as inspiration for many of his songs over the past few years, such as his 2012 track More Than Miles, with lyrics that include the line 'Cause that girl's in every song I sing/She's in every song I write/And that six string ridin' in her seat/Won't keep me warm tonight'.

Last year (13) Gilbert was set to wed fellow country star Jana Kramer, but they broke off their engagement.
