Beyonce and One Direction score 2016 Webby Awards nominations
Beyonce, One Direction and Kendall Jenner have been nominated for their contributions to the Internet at the 2016 Webby Awards.
The Crazy in the Love singer has been shortlisted for best music website at the annual awards, and she will compete against the interactive Inside Abbey Road site plus pages created by bosses of streaming service Spotify, radio station Triple J and news media Pitchfork.
One Direction's promotional Made in the A.M. site, for their latest
album, will go head-to-head with model Kendall's official pages for
the Celebrity/Fan (Websites) prize, but they have tough competition
from Irish rockers U2 and TV hosts Conan O'Brien and Ellen
DeGeneres.
Nicki Minaj is mentioned in Comedy: Individual Short or Episode
(Online Film & Video) category thanks to an animated parody of her
Anaconda music video, which was created by CollegeHumor.com. It is
nominated against Dennis Quaid's on set meltdown, which turned out
to be a Funny Or Die prank, parody rap video Go to College,
featuring First Lady Michelle Obama, and a special The Simpsons
sketch mocking Donald Trump's presidential bid announcement.
Hit TV drama Game of Thrones scores a nomination for Best Overall
Social Presence, alongside The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
and other news pages.
Funnyman Jerry Seinfeld achieves two mentions, for Best Web
Personality/Host (Online Film & Video) and Comedy: Long Form or
Series (Online Film & Video) for his web series Comedians in Cars
Getting Coffee.
Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel also receives a nod in the latter
comedy category for his Celebrities Read Mean Tweets segment, plus
comedian Billy Eichner for the Michelle Obama episode of his game
show Billy on the Street.
The winners are announced on 26 April (16) ahead of ceremony at
Cipriani Wall Street in New York on 16 May (16).
