Ben Savage to make directorial debut with Girl Meets World episode
Actor Ben Savage is set to make his directorial debut with the spin-off of his hit Boy Meets World series.
Savage and his co-star Danielle Fishel have reprised their roles as childhood sweethearts, now grown up with a young daughter of their own, on the forthcoming Girl Meets World, and the 33 year old is planning to step behind the camera to direct one of the episodes.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "It's something I've been prepping
for for the last 20 years...
"It was a natural progression because I had always wanted to direct
and I felt such a personal connection to the show. It was an
important piece of my life really. Directing was a natural next
step for me and it's something I was looking forward to doing."
Production on the episode is due to shoot at the end of this month
(Apr14) and Savage reveals he has been receiving a few words of
wisdom from his brother and fellow actor-turned-director Fred
Savage.
He says, "Fred and I have had many discussions about it. He's
always willing to offer advice and suggestions and pointers when he
can. He'd be a very helpful guide as I go through this
process."
Girl Meets World, which stars 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard as Savage
and Fishel's daughter, is scheduled to premiere on the Disney
Channel later this year (14).
