Rocker Beck has topped one of the first best album polls of the year - his Morning Phase has been selected the best release of 2014 by bosses at online shopping site Amazon.co.uk.

Beck’s 12th album has beaten out Lost In The Dream by The War on Drugs and Damon Albarn's Everyday Robots to land at the top of the countdown.

Metronomy's Love Letters and Caustic Love by Paolo Nutini round out the top five, while Wye Oak's Shriek, Our Love by Caribou and Jack White's acclaimed Lazaretto also make the top 10.

The War on Drugs and Caribou's albums also feature in a new 2014 album poll released by NME.com.

St. Vincent's eponymous album tops that countdown, beating out Mac DeMarco's Salad Days and Lost in the Dream by The War on Drugs. Aphex Twin's Syro and Our Love by Caribou round out the top five, while Jamie T's Carry on the Grudge and La Roux's Trouble in Paradise feature in the top 10.
