Avengers fight scene halted after Renner's body shut down
A serious injury to actor Jeremy Renner temporarily shut down filming on the new Avengers movie - after the star was left incapacitated.
Director Joss Whedon reveals he had to reschedule his shooting schedule around his pained Hawkeye character after one stunt left him in agony.
The filmmaker tells The Hollywood Reporter, "He's an amazing
fighter - his fight work is wonderful... and you seldom have to
double him (with a stand-in) but one day he just turned wrong (sic)
and his whole body shut down. He could not do anything. He was in
enormous pain, and we had to shut that sequence down and shoot it a
couple of weeks later."
Renner adds, "I tore the muscle from my back to my shoulder. I got
chewed up pretty good."
And the star didn't have much more luck in his other upcoming
action blockbuster, The Bourne Legacy - he injured his leg and arm
in fight scenes.
He adds, "I got injured kicking a table and missing and
hyper-extending my leg. I had to get an MRI... (and) I can't really
grab anything."
