August Alsina cancels London trip
Rising R&B star August Alsina canceled a planned performance in London after doctors warned him not to travel to the U.K. so soon after his recent health scare.
The No Love singer was due to perform at comedian Kevin Hart's HartBeat Weekend event in the British capital on Saturday night (11Oct14), but pulled out on medical grounds.
Alsina collapsed and hit his head during a performance in New York
City on 15 September (14), and subsequently suffered several
seizures and slipped into a coma. He is now recovering at home, but
doctors advised him not to fly.
A spokesperson for the star tells Billboard.com, "Due to the
well-publicized fall from a stage in New York last month which
caused August to be hospitalized for more than a week, his medical
team has advised him that it would be unwise to travel such
distance so soon into his recovery. August has asked us to convey
his disappointment and sadness that he will be unable to perform.
We all wish him the very best of luck and a speedy recovery."
Hart has since sent a message to the star via Twitter.com, writing,
"Hey @AugustAlsina I completely understand & I'm sure your UK fans
understand as well. Your health is what's important man... Get
well."
Alsina is due to start a U.S. tour early next month (Nov14).
