Ashton Kutcher dons safety gear for David Letterman following extremist threat
Ashton Kutcher made light of David Letterman's death threat scare during an appearance on the TV star's chatshow on Wednesday (24Aug11), by donning a helmet and bulletproof vest for the interview.
The Late Show host returned to the show on Monday (22Aug11) following a two-week vacation, during which an extremist named Umar al-Basrawi urged fellow Muslims to "cut the tongue of this lowly Jew" after David Letterman poked fun at alleged terrorist leader Ilyas Kashmiri, who was killed during an airstrike in Pakistan in June (11).
The threat against the TV personality, who is not Jewish, was made on Shumukh-al-Islam - a popular Internet destination for radical Muslims.
And Ashton Kutcher joked about the threat by turning up for his slot on Letterman's show wearing protective gear, along with a sign which read, "Not Dave".
He added, "You can't be too careful sitting next to a guy that's been fatwa-ed."
