Ariana Grande misses grandfather on Independence Day

Ariana Grande was heartbroken on Independence Day (04Jul14) because she was away from her ill grandfather.

The Problem hitmaker headed to her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida on Thursday (03Jul14) to visit her sick grandad in hospital, and she posted a series of snaps on Friday (04Jul14) showing her lying next on him on his bed.

Grande canceled her scheduled appearance at the Independence Day Philly Jam Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, citing personal reasons, but she still upheld her commitment to perform at the annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in New York.

Grande wrote emotional messages on Twitter.com, telling fans she wished she was with her 'grandps' and that she could see her half-brother Frankie, who is currently starring in reality show Big Brother.

She writes, "love u grandps I need u (sic) please pull thru (through)... thank u (sic) for the prayers. My loves u (sic) are so powerful... u (sic) are in my heart. I wish Frankie were here. Grandpa said 'no he gotta win the game!' ...gonna (sic) try my best to put my selfishness aside thru (through) this... as much as I want grandps here with me.. I should just want him to be comfortable... wish u (sic) knew how incredible he is."
