Ariana Grande hits back at online body shamer
Ariana Grande fired back at a body shamer on Instagram on Monday (02Nov15) after the 'troll' cruelly poked fun at the pop star's thin frame.
The social media user claimed he was asked if he preferred Grande or Modern Family star Ariel Winter, 17, who reduced the size of her chest this summer (Jun15) after suffering back problems and taunts over her appearance.
He wrote, "it wud (sic) DEFINITELY be @arielwinter1 curves are sexy
sticks aren't".
The Problem singer posted a screenshot of the callous comment, and
added, "Sigh... tweets, comments, statement like this are not okay.
About anyone!!! We live in a day and age where people make it
IMPOSSIBLE for women, men, anyone to embrace themselves exactly how
they are. Diversity is sexy! Loving yourself is sexy!"
"You know what is NOT sexy?," she continued. "Misogyny,
objectifying, labeling, comparing and body shaming!!! Talking about
people’s body’s as if they’re on display ASKING for your
approval/opinion. THEY ARE NOT!!!!
"CELEBRATE YOURSELF. CELEBRATE OTHERS. The things that make us
different from one another make us BEAUTIFUL. BODY BOUNDARIES. LOVE
LOVE LOVE ONLY."
She concluded, "I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way
today!! in case you need a reminder, you're beautiful. it's a
beautiful day to be yourself!!"
Winter took note of Grande's response to the anonymous user, and
tweeted, "Thank you @ArianaGrande. Women should empower one
another. Celebrate each other - you're all beautiful."
