Anne Hathaway blasts Argentinian reporter over Ebola claims
Anne Hathaway has blasted an Argentinian journalist who claimed she refused to shake his hand because she was scared of catching the Ebola virus.
Reporter Alexis Puig flew from Buenos Aires to Los Angeles to chat to Hathaway and her Interstellar co-stars last week (ends27Oct14) but he was taken aback when the actress avoided touching him.
He later took to Twitter.com to accuse the Les Miserables star of
being scared of catching Ebola from him, writing a message that
translates as, "Anne Hathaway didn't shake my hand because she was
she was afraid of ebola #I'mAThirdWorldJournalist... Christopher
Nolan, Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain were great in the
interviews (and none of them denied me their hands). Take that
Anne!"
However, a representative for the actress has slammed his comments,
telling Britain's Daily Mail, "That is nonsense - she wasn't
shaking anyone's hands because she was coming down with a cold and
didn't want to get anyone sick."
More than 10,000 victims have contracted the Ebola virus, with only
27 cases occurring outside Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
