Anna Paquin hits back at bisexuality critics

Anna Paquin has hit back at critics who suggest bisexuality is "made up", insisting gender has nothing to do with who she falls in love with.

The actress went public with her sexual orientation in 2010 as part of an awareness campaign for Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund, which fights for the rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.

Anna Paquin insists she has no regrets over the revelation, and wants to clear up misconceptions of being attracted to both sexes.

She tells Zooey magazine, "I'm sure for some people saying they're bisexual feels less scary than making a statement that they're gay.

"For me, it's not really an issue because I'm someone who believes being bisexual is actually a thing. It's not made up. It's not a lack of decision. It's not being greedy or numerous other ignorant things I've heard at this point.

"For a bisexual, it's not about gender. That's not the deciding factor for who they're attracted to."

Anna Paquin is currently expecting her first child with her husband, True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer.
