American Idol alum Colton Dixon weds

American Idol alum Colton Dixon wed his fiancee in a ceremony on Friday (08Jan16) in Nashville, Tennessee.

The singer tied the knot with Annie Coggeshall at the Scarritt Bennett Center, and he told editors at American publication People after the ceremony, "I'm overwhelmed. There's so much joy!"

The pair met in 2012 while rehearsing for the American Idol tour in Los Angeles, and became engaged at Disney World in Florida.

Annie wore a Vera Wang gown for the wedding, and Colton, who has forged a career as a Christian music artist since placing seventh on the 11th season of the music talent show in 2012, told People his outfit was a "modern, musician's take" on a tuxedo.

"She was glowing and it was unbelievable how beautiful she was," Colton said of his new bride. "I absolutely lost it. Audible tears. And I'm not a good-looking crier either!"

The newlyweds will honeymoon in Tahiti, French Polynesia, and will set up home in Nashville.

"We've never been in the same state for more than a couple of weeks at a time, so I'm excited about that," Colton told People. "I'm really excited to start our own life together and get to know her on a whole different level."
