America Ferrera and Teri Weinberg launch production company
America Ferrera is joining forces with Ugly Betty producer Teri Weinberg on a new production company.
America and Teri worked together on 53 episodes of the hit TV show, which ran from 2006 to 2010.
As well as forming a firm friendship, the two are now taking their working relationship to the next level by going into business together, according to Deadline.
The company's title is still unknown, but it has already signed a first-look deal with Universal TV and snapped up a legal drama from Revenge showrunner Sunil Nayar. The series will center on a Sikh law student working at a renegade student-run law firm to take on the country's biggest issues and institutions, giving voice to the voiceless.
Both women have experience running a production company; America with Take Fountain Productions and Teri under the Yellow Brick Road banner.
Since Golden Globe-winning show Ugly Betty ended seven years ago, America has juggled producing work with acting gigs. She can currently be seen in NBC's Superstore, which she also produces.
