Adrienne Bailon engaged after whirlwind romance
Adrienne Bailon is engaged to her singer-songwriter boyfriend Israel Houghton after a whirlwind romance.
The Real co-host announced on Friday (12Aug16) that Houghton had popped the question in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and showed off her huge diamond ring on social media.
"You. Me. Oui," she captioned a video of her holding up her hand in
front of the Parisian landmark on Instagram.
Houghton posted a similar shot of his 32-year-old fiancee's hand in
front of the Eiffel Tower, and took the opportunity to defend his
future wife from the barrage of criticism the couple has faced
since they went public earlier this year (16).
"I have seen and felt the essence of Gods grace through the life,
the kindness and the courage of this woman. I've seen her attacked.
Lied about, Wrongfully accused, Mocked. Laughed at, and
misunderstood. But I've also seen the shining example of the eagle
she is that rises above the cacophony of the noise of ignorants,"
he wrote on Instagram on Friday.
"I've taken a giant leap of faith in asking her to share life with
me forever and to give me a shot at getting it right this time,"
the Grammy-winner continued. "She has graciously granted my
request... She said yes. Thanks Be To God. Thank you
@adriennebailon for graciously loving me."
Bailon also shared more moments from her Parisian love trip on
Snapchat, including a clip of the engaged couple doing a happy
dance on board their riverboat. She later added another video clip
on Instagram, showing the couple kissing.
The former Cheetah Girl and the Christian musician went public with
their relationship in April (16), just months after he announced he
was divorcing his wife of 20 years.
Bailon was previously engaged to music executive Lenny Santiango in
February 2015, but split several months later in September. Before
that, the singer dated Rob Kardashian from 2007 to 2009, and was
featured on several early episodes of Keeping Up With the
Kardashians.
The couple faced cheating allegations after they were spotted on
holiday together in Mexico in March (16), just a month after
Houghton confirmed his split from his wife Meleasa.
The photos lead to speculation they had been having an affair and
Adrienne was the reason for his marriage split, but Israel issued a
statement on Facebook to deny the allegations.
Adrienne later addressed the reports on talk show The Real, and
confirmed she was dating Houghton but he is not married, and she
had nothing to do with his divorce.
"People were saying was that I was the cause of his divorce, which
I think any divorce is obviously a sad thing," she told her
co-hosts back in April. "People have to go through (it), it takes
time to get through that sort of thing, and I think no one put that
time together," she continues. "This is why I'm grateful for things
like this (the show) because it allows you to set the facts
straight and God forbid the facts get in the way of a really good,
juicy story.
"I'm going to say the truth and the truth of the matter is that
isn't the case," she shared. "He obviously is divorced. He had put
out a statement saying that he had failed in his marriage and it
was about five years back. I didn't know him at the time. So to put
that blame on me was obviously hurtful."
