Adriana Lima and husband Marko Jaric split

Supermodel Adriana Lima has separated from her husband, former basketball star Marko Jaric.

The couple, which wed in 2009, has been dogged by rumors of a split for several weeks and now its break-up has been confirmed.

A statement issued to People.com reads: "After long and careful consideration, we have decided to separate after five years of marriage.

"We are grateful to be the parents of two incredible young daughters that we will continue to co-parent. We would greatly appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we begin this delicate next chapter for all members of our family."

Lima and Jaric are parents to Valentina, four, and 19-month-old Sienna.
