Adele to perform at the Oscars
Adele is returning to the stage for the first time since giving birth, to sing her James Bond theme tune Skyfall at the upcoming Academy Awards.
The Chasing Pavements hitmaker, who gave birth to a son in October (12), is nominated in the Best Original Song category for her 007 anthem, and she will be at the Los Angeles ceremony in person to perform it on 24 February (13).
Adele, who won a Golden Globe for the tune earlier this month
(Jan13), says, "It's an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly
wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my
imagination over and over again. It's something I've never
experienced and probably only ever will once!"
Show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron add, "We have enormous
respect for Adele's unique artistry as a songwriter and a singer.
She is currently one of the most successful recording artists in
the world, and we believe that her performance of Skyfall will be
an exciting Oscar moment for audiences watching at the Dolby
Theatre and on television screens around the world."
The Oscars are also set to feature a tribute to the Bond movie
franchise in recognition of its 50th anniversary last year
(12).
