Adele's comeback hit Hello has been named Track of the Year at the AIM Independent Music Awards.

The singer released the single while she was still signed to with XL Recordings before she signed a massive new deal with bosses at Sony.

Hello beat off competition from Radiohead's Burn The Witch, Skepta's Man, and Major Lazer's Light It Up.

Other winners at the sixth edition of the Association of Independent Music awards included Darren Hayman (Hardest Working Artist), Babymetal (Best Live Act), Stormzy (Innovator award), Christine and the Queens (Independent Breakthrough of the Year), and Little Simz (Independent Album of the Year for A Curious Tale Of Trials + Persons).

Meanwhile, former Moloko singer-turned-producer Roisin Murphy picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize and Blur frontman Damon Albarn presented the Pioneer Award to his friend and collaborator Richard Russell.
