Adele keeps Coldplay off the top of album chart
Adele has landed a third week on top of the Billboard 200 album chart after seeing off a challenge from Coldplay.
The singer's 25 has now hauled in sales of 5.19 million copies in just three weeks, and its 695,000 tally from the past seven days was easily enough to keep Coldplay's A Head Full of Stars off the top of the new countdown.
25 is now the largest selling album of any calendar year since
2011, when Adele’s previous album, 21, sold 5.82 million.
Coldplay still impress in second place with opening week sales of
210,000, while Justin Bieber's Purpose falls to three, and
Pentatonix's That’s Christmas to Me and When It's Dark Out by
G-Eazy round out the top five.
The other top 10 debuts are Rick Ross' Black Market at six and
Troye Sivan’s Blue Neighborhood at seven.
