Adele is U.K.'s top-earning female musician but Sir Paul is richest again
Adele is the United Kingdom's richest female musician.
The Hello singer's estimated $122 million has put her in 30th place on The Sunday Times' new Music Millionaires Top 50, but more importantly she has also topped the Young Music Rich List of performers aged 30 and under.
"It is men that dominate the list, and members of male bands by and
large," longtime Rich Lists editor Ian Coxon tells the Press
Association. "Adele is the exception. No woman has been increasing
her wealth like Adele. She's even outstripping young male
performers."
Enya remains Ireland's wealthiest female performer with a fortune
of $130 million .
Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell top the list for the
second year running, with a joint fortune of $1.1 billion, up $43
million from last year (15).
Theater impresario Lord Lloyd Webber comes in second place with an
estimated $1 billion fortune and the members of U2 are third with
$717 million .
Sir Elton John and The Rolling Stones round out the top five and
late Beatles star George Harrison's widow Olivia, and his son
Dhani, are new additions to the list in sixth place with a family
fortune of $315 million .
