Adele in talks to play Dusty Springfield - report

Written by . Published: September 28 2013

British singer Adele is reportedly in early discussions to tackle the role of Dusty Springfield in a movie about the country music icon.

The film, which will be written by Boardwalk Empire scribe David Stenn, will focus on Springfield's time living in Memphis, Tennessee in the late 1960s during the making of her 1969 album Dusty in Memphis.

A studio executive tells British newspaper the Daily Mail that soul star Adele is in talks to join the film, saying, "There is a project - and it's true Adele is attached - but it's in an early stage of development."

The script is yet to be accepted by a studio, and Adele's musical commitments may be a factor in her ability to accept the role.

Adele's London-based spokesman offered "no comment on this" when approach by the newspaper.
