50 Cent and Fat Joe shake hands to settle rivalry
50 Cent and Fat Joe have settled their longrunning feud in honour of their mutual friend, late hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty.
The rap community was left devastated in August (12) when the popular talent manager was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in his Bronx, New York apartment.
50 Cent and Fat Joe were both discovered by Lighty, but the two
stars fell out in 2004 when the heavyweight MC sided with the In Da
Club hitmaker's number one rap rival, Ja Rule.
They managed to put their issues with one another aside to take
part in a moving tribute to Lighty at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards
in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday (29Sep12) and Fat Joe reveals it
was 50 who actually made the first move to reconcile.
He says, "While we were there (at the awards show), 50 whispered
some things in my ear that was gentleman-like (sic). He just said
the right things and a handshake was involved and that was that. It
was two grown men that just said, 'This is for Chris Lighty, this
is for hip-hop, let's move on with our lives.'
"Unfortunately it took somebody that I love so much to pass away...
somebody who tried effortlessly to squash the beef for years."
Lighty's death was officially ruled a suicide, but 50 Cent has cast
doubt on the findings, reportedly hiring a team of private
investigators to look into the case.
