What is Michelle Phan’s Biggest Fear?

Thanks for having us. This is so fun. Welcome to the party. Well, it hasn't started yet. A little quiet right now. Well, now you're here, so you're the party. Now it can officially start.

Oh gosh, all right, let's go.

Well, one thing I I read about you that I absolutely love is that you loved beauty so much. It was something you grew up around and that you went into a beauty counter to get a job and they told you you weren't prepared enough. You didn't have enough skills.

Yeah. I wasn't qualified, yeah. There was no makeup tutorials. If you wanted to learn makeup, you'd either have to go to a beauty counter and purchase a product um or go to a beauty seminar but it wasn't as readily as free. Right. Or available as YouTube has made it or just the internet in general has made these beauty tutorials now. Right.

So tell us a little bit about Ipsy and what makes it so different and so unique. I mean, people go crazy over glam bags.

I don't know. I mean, I think it's beauty discovery that's fun. Right. Cuz sometimes beauty discovery can be really scary and intimidating. You go into like a beauty store that's big and they're selling a million. Hundreds of products. Like I feel so overwhelmed when I'm at Costco and I have to choose between four different ketchups. Like, oh my gosh. That's how I describe Ipsy. It's not just this beauty subscription glam bag. Like it really is this fun beauty experience that you can get every month for $10.

Yeah. What inspires you?

Um I think for me what pushes me is just that I just like challenges, you know, I I I feel like there's so much more. I don't like feeling complacent in my life. Um I feel like when you're complacent, growth stops. You don't evolve as much and you become the same and my biggest fear is becoming that person who just I'm stuck in my ways, you know, I don't want to be that person. I want to be someone who learns and then I unlearn and I learn something new again. And in a way, that's a that's the best way to feel young.
