Scooten tag. She loves cats, can make a mean schnitzel, and can moonwalk like Michael Jackson. Stay tuned for my chat with the star of The Host, Diane Kruger. I am here with the gorgeous Diane Kruger. Great to see you.

Diane Kruger

Hi, nice to see you.

Young Hollywood

So, um, I heard that you were a big sci-fi fan. I love.

Diane Kruger

Yeah. Before even before this film. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

So if you had to choose Yeah. one last film to watch, would it be Star Trek or Star Wars?

Diane Kruger

Star Wars.

Young Hollywood

Oh, that was fast. Yeah. I thought you were a fan of both.

Diane Kruger

I love Star Wars. I like both, but like Star, maybe because I was much younger, you know, the first time I saw Star Wars, it just blew my mind. The old one, the original one.

Young Hollywood

The original one. So I know in this film, I know in past films you've had to learn to do a lot of pretty crazy things. I know in one film you learned to conduct an orchestra. Is there anything that you had to do in this film that you've never done before, or learned?

Diane Kruger

Nothing super exciting, a little embarrassed to say, uh, drive a stick car. But that car was insane. That chrome car. Yes. It's it's Justin Bieber and me.

Young Hollywood

Oh my gosh. It does look like Justin Bieber's car. Totally. Totally. Yeah. They made a good call. Hey, you want to cruise in a rally. But what about the contact lenses? Look pretty intense.

Diane Kruger

Yeah, they contact, they're weird, you know, they don't have lateral vision, so you you sort of stuck in the dark. You don't know where to go. Which is not good when you're driving a Lotus.

Young Hollywood

Really? I'm Stephanie Meyer and Andrew Niccol, such a great team. Had you, were you a fan of her books? Had you seen all the Twilight, had you seen the franchise before?

Diane Kruger

I saw the Twilight. I I I did not read the books. Uh, I didn't read The Host either. It was offered to me and then I read the book. Um, yesterday, we did a a fan like poster signing at a mall here in Los Angeles and that was the first time I got to meet, you know, her fans, and that was Oh my gosh. An eye opener. I didn't know. I mean, I knew, I knew, I knew, but I'd never like experienced it and it was something that I'll never forget. It was insane.

Young Hollywood

So in the spirit of the film, we ha, we wanted to get your thoughts on the on some things. Okay. Related to the film. Okay. If you could inhabit the body of anybody for a day, who would it be?

Diane Kruger

I can narrow it down to one. It would be Michael Jackson, Tom Brady. Um, I want to be Cindy Crawford at 19. Okay. Um, you know, I don't know. The Pope maybe for a day.

Young Hollywood

Okay, you're about to be occupied by aliens, but you get to enjoy one last meal as a human. What would it be?

Diane Kruger

Schnitzel.

Young Hollywood

I love your answer.

Diane Kruger

Yeah, that's the German coming out, I guess.

Young Hollywood

Are you a good cook? Do you cook a lot?

Diane Kruger

I love it. Yeah, I'm a really good schnitzel cook. It's hard to make. People, yeah, can you really?

Young Hollywood

What's the key? For anybody attempting.

Diane Kruger

The crunch, the breadcrumbs, and then the mixture of milk and butter and oil.

Young Hollywood

You know all the Twilight fans are going to be now making schnitzel in your, in your honor. That was. Okay. You are the last human to survive a dystopian future. What is the one item you would have with you?

Diane Kruger

A boy. I mean, just imagine.

Young Hollywood

Okay. The aliens in this film seek to create a perfect world. Fill in the blank. In my own perfect world, there'd be a lot of

Diane Kruger

I want to say cats, but I feel like that's a shallow answer.

Young Hollywood

Why cats? It's a great answer.

Diane Kruger

I just got a cat. I just got a cat and I'm totally obsessed. My cat. I have fears and worries of turning into this crazy cat lady because I can't stop taking pictures and posting them on Instagram. And like my friends have literally called and said, "You're insane, you need to get out of the house." Like it's really sad.

Young Hollywood

Have you watched, are you one of those people that watches the YouTube the cat videos? That what's that cat, the grumpy cat? Do you want to take hat? Oh my God. Yes, we had a cat in here. Little Bob. Do you know Little Bob?

Diane Kruger

No. What's Little Bob?

Young Hollywood

Little Bob, you gotta look him up. Little Bob was a little chall, he was a little challenged. He's got his big eyes, big. But you know what's crazy about it is the cat, I think the Twilight sort of like fan base could rabble, could rival the cat fan base because people line up for hours. Oh, it's really sad. Are you going to be that girl one day?

Diane Kruger

I fear. I have fears being like left by my husband and my kids don't want to talk to me and I live in a house with ten cats.

Young Hollywood

Okay. You are the host with the most and you're throwing a party. What is your favorite party style? An intimate dinner with friends, a costume party or a big blow out bash Vegas style?

Diane Kruger

No, more intimate. I I I rope my friends, uh, because I love to cook. But I always find, you know, you want to, you don't want to end up in the kitchen for hours. So I sort of make the the basics and then I rope all of my friends in to help me cook and they love it because it's like it creates, you know, you're in the kitchen, you're drinking, we're really getting hammered and then, you know, you're just making this feast and everybody gets to eat and it's really fun.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Do you think aliens, if they exist, are peaceful or are they warmongers?

Diane Kruger

Uh, I would, they probably have their own challenges, you know, they might eat each other. I mean, who knows? They have their own problems too, just like the human race.

Young Hollywood

They must. Like the human. Okay. And what one human trait about yourself do you wish you could wipe out?

Diane Kruger

Can be pretty, um, you know, too, uh, persistent in some things. You know, I I expect, um, too much of not just of others, but of myself. And so I consistently battle the urge to wanting to control. But I'm also a woman so I guess that comes with the gender. We all have an alien inside us, all women, don't we?

Young Hollywood

Yes, I think so. But it worked out in your favor because I know for Inglourious Basterds, didn't you camp out for two weeks waiting for a meeting?

Diane Kruger

Yes. So sometimes it helps. Yeah. Um, I find when it comes to boys, you gotta let go sometimes because it drives you, they drive you nuts otherwise. And in work, it helps at times, you know, yeah.

Young Hollywood

And cats will always balance that out. Well, the cat that doesn't give a sh-. So the cat is just like.

Diane Kruger

Maybe that's why I like cats. They're just like, no matter what I want them to do, they won't do it.

Young Hollywood

It's exactly true. And women. And other girls.

Diane Kruger

Yes.
