Sugar Ray Leonard

Thank you. A key is looking good. That's all that matters. That's all that matters. Looking good.

Young Hollywood

So take the heels off. Take the heels off. Okay. We're taking the heels off. Put your guards up. Let's see your guards.

Sugar Ray Leonard

These guards? These guards. Hands up. Hands up.

Young Hollywood

Oh, okay. No, no, this. Okay. We gotta do it this way. Okay, so this is, this is called the jab, right? Jab. Jab, jab, jab.

Sugar Ray Leonard

Well, that's one. Two. Okay, ready? One, two. Attitude. Cannot punch. You got short conviction.

Young Hollywood

So it's about attitude. It's not so much the physical component.

Sugar Ray Leonard

It's the physical. No, no, it's all, it's all of those things. It encompasses all of those things. We're standing in a ring. In the middle of Santa Monica, in the Loews Hotel, Ocean View. This, you don't see this too often. No. Actually, you don't see it at all, except tonight.

Young Hollywood

Big night for you and your charity, you're bringing awareness to pediatric diabetes.

Sugar Ray Leonard

Type 1, type 2. It's been eight years. We, my wife and I started the, started the foundation. And it's about giving back, it's about making a difference in someone else's life. I've made a huge impact in this ring. Now I want to make an impact outside the ring. My father has diabetes. My friends, it's very personal to me. And we are looking to knock out diabetes. You got to feel it, you got to feel it, you got to feel it. Never tighten. That's what we'll be tighten. Okay. You want speed. And speed nullifies everything. So when I was boxing, I had a, I had a lot of speed. So I had a major advantage over all my opponents. It's going to get hard.

Young Hollywood

Got it. Got it. What you, what you. You just had a birthday. I'm not gonna say hello.

Sugar Ray Leonard

I'm 61. I'm 61.

Young Hollywood

You're aging backwards. I mean, are you still doing your boxing routine, the workout routine?

Sugar Ray Leonard

It's a combination of everything, I believe. It's, it's from genetics to working out, I love to work out. Attitude, giving back, making a difference in someone's life, make us someone smile.

Young Hollywood

Talk about your workout routine now.

Sugar Ray Leonard

I do things in moderation. I don't really lift weights too much. I do, although I do reps. I do sit-ups and push-ups and things of that nature. But I, I, I love, I love cardio. I love running. I love just getting out there, you know, getting it going.

Young Hollywood

What about getting it going? Blood pumping, you like that?

Sugar Ray Leonard

I jump rope a little bit. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

So many people, millions of people around the world look up to you. What do you look up to?

Sugar Ray Leonard

My father. I turned professional because my dad back in 1976 went into a coma. We had no money and I turned to boxing, professional boxing to make fast money to pay the bills. My father's still kicking around. He'll be 95 in June. So, boxing is pretty special.

Young Hollywood

You're tearing up.

Sugar Ray Leonard

Oh yeah, it's I nearly I nearly lost my father a couple of uh, a couple weeks ago. And uh, he's okay now. He, he, well, you know, he's okay. Tips? I, first of all, I, I never really used pads in my, during my career. Maybe once out of my entire career boxing career. Don't reach. Stop. Think about sneaking up. And do you hit at the same time? Yes. Got it. Two. That's like a one, two. Yeah. Ah, now that's good. That's good. That's good. That's good. Oh, give me a five. One. One, two. One, two. One, two, three. Okay. One. Oh, oh, you put it up. Can't think. Don't think. Don't think. It's all, it's all intuitive. One, two. One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. She has potential.
