RJ here hanging out at the Young Hollywood Studio at the Four Seasons Hotel. So, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias. What do they all have in common? This guy right here. RedOne. Now, it's a face you might not yet know, but it's a name you definitely know. You heard Lady Gaga's song at the beginning and she goes, how does she say it at the beginning of her song? Oh RedOne That's what she's talking about you know. Now, you are literally the biggest producer in the music business right now.
Well, you know it's a blessing, I'm so happy, you know to be part of the whole thing, you know, you know, kind of change music or be part of music in the world because that that's my dream, you know, it's been my dream since I was a kid.
Well, not only the biggest producer but I gotta say biggest writer because you might not say you're the biggest but if you you look at this it says Pop Writer of the Year RedOne. So that means the biggest writer of the year.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
And you are RedOne.
Thank you. I mean, yeah, I mean it's what's what's bigger than this? Nothing, you know I mean it's like as a to get a recognition from BMI as the Songwriter of the Year that's beyond my imagination.
Which I I gotta say very few people in this town keep their word and this is one guy that does. Seriously, we met in New York like a few months ago and you promised me next time you're in LA you'd make it.
Absolutely.
You're here less than 24 hours. You win this award, you're leaving on a flight in two hours and you still found time to come in here.
Absolutely. Young Hollywood, I love it. I love what you do. I love like, you know, the vision you have and and of course I love you, you know.
Now let's talk about your your crazy schedule because you're all over the place. You're you're on tour with Gaga right now. Yeah. Where are you going back to Europe? Where are you headin' from there?
I'm going to Paris where she's at right now and uh and then England. We're touring the whole the whole Europe.
And you guys actually recording songs on the road?
Yeah, yeah, we're working, we're working.
So how is that different than being in the recording studio with Gaga?
I mean, the first album we did in the studio of course, but the the second album became uh she was touring, not the second album but the the re-release, you know, the repack. Uh we wrote Bad Romance in a bus. In a tour bus, you know, in this little table, two laptops, headphones, connected together and we just we're working, we did Bad Romance and you know music is music wherever you are if you have what it takes, you can just do it fine.
So on the first album of all the songs, which one would you say was your favorite?
Ah, tough to choose. I mean, no, no, can I tell you something to me every song is like a baby, you know what I mean, like you have different babies everybody's different but you love them all.
So Which one pushed you the most creatively?
Creatively it was Bad Romance. Because coming from you know, three number ones like Just Dance, Poker Face, Love Game, boom, boom, boom, but Bad Romance was like a challenge because you know how big she became and everybody's like, oh, this is the new sound, what can they do now? But as soon as we started magic happened. You know, and it was the easy easy again, you know.
Last thing we want to know, you know, it's something we always ask people and I have a feeling you're gonna give some good advice. What do you do to just every time a door shuts in your face or someone says no how do you not give up?
I used to like break down. Sometimes cry. It's just I think everybody should keep if if they really believe in it just keep doing it and try to master your craft. Listen to what everybody is is been doing, what everybody's doing now, what everybody's been doing for so many years. Then music is is the key, you know, and and just listen to them, study them and try to make it fresh for now and and give your own, you know, input to it.
So RedOne, it's a name you definitely know. It's a face you might not know but get to know it because I have a feeling you're gonna be seeing a lot more of this guy in the near near future.
Young Hollywood, I love you. You're the best. Thank you. Mwah.
