RJ here, hanging out with the Young Hollywood Studio with Michelle Rodriguez. What's up?
Nothing much. How you been? Good?
Good, good. Good, good. So, how do you always get to play the badass? That's what I want to know.
I don't know, man. I guess I'm just lucky that way.
Seriously, look at all your characters and you're always like the hot chick with the guns or like the crazy outfits.
It doesn't come around too often, but when it does, I get excited for sure.
Let's talk about this poster of Machete. The outfit you're wearing. You wearing that out in public at all?
I don't know, maybe to the beach on Halloween.
You're right. It kind of looks like a little a little Halloween getup. So, so let's talk about it because there was a trailer now that like 10 years ago Robert Rodriguez did and he's wanted to do it for that long. I saw the file. Rogue federal agent. Rolled by a sense of destiny. Machete. And now, like it's a real movie.
He's actually wanted to do this since 16 years ago.
16 years.
Yeah, that's what he told me. The Desperado, uh, project, when he saw Danny Trejo in his outfit for Desperado, he said, "I need to make a superhero out of this guy. He's awesome."
So now, now you've worked with with some crazy characters. This movie alone, I mean, you got De Niro, you got Seagal, you got Trejo. Isn't that wild? Who's like the most hardcore of all the characters and all these films you've done that you would not want to mess with?
Danny. Danny's pretty hard. You know what? Though, Stephen. Yeah. Really, you know, Seagal? He he's a he's kind of he's kind of scary, man.
What's he like when the cameras aren't rolling? Let's see him.
He's a cool cat. He's he's really laid back. Alarmingly cool.
How are you when the cameras aren't rolling? I mean, you're like scary sometimes.
I'm pretty laid back. I'm pretty laid back. Yeah, I go with the flow. Just chill.
Yeah, man, always. Let's talk about some of the other things you've been doing recently. I mean, Lost and Avatar. Like they both have crazy fan followings and you're part of both. That's pretty crazy. That's those are two icons. Iconic films.
I know, isn't that crazy? That is pretty wild.
Which fans do you think? Avatar just has new nine minutes of uh footage and they rereleased it in theaters so that people could go check it out. The film is everywhere. I mean, literally like there's a new phone. I don't know, have you seen this now that it actually comes on the phone. Like, look at this. Samsung Avatar. You get the phone and it comes pre-played with the actual Avatar clip. That's awesome. In the chopper, too. In the chopper, which is you. There you are in the scene. But Dude, is that a Samsung phone?
Yeah, it is. Oh, right, huh?
It's the new Galaxy S. It comes everywhere you go now. I mean, it's online, you go, you see Avatar, like highest grossing film of all time. I love it, man. And you are a part of that, though.
I know, isn't that amazing? That's so cool. What's that like to just
I've been immortalized.
Last thing I want to know is you've done all kinds of amazing things. What have you not done that's like the one kind of role that
Deep sea diving.
Deep sea diving?
Yeah, I'm about to go on the Sea Shepherd and go uh throw some tear gas at some magles trying to like, you know, kill whales. And um, you know, I think that's going to be the beginning stages of me facing my fear of the deep ocean.
Well there you go, Michelle Rodriguez, and the biggest thing I learned is she's actually afraid of something. Like you like the badass and nothing's afraid of. Deep sea diving, she's afraid.
Yeah, very.
