Hi guys, my name's Michelle and I'm here at Duff's Cake Mix, and today we'll be having our Star Wars Holiday cupcake mixer. This is our third mixer, but we do have multiple events that we have around the year. We have Disney theme, we also have Harry Potter, and these events are in both of our locations here at Melrose, West Hollywood and our second location in Old Town Pasadena. This is Princess Leia, we have Yoda, the Droid BB-8, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and an Ewok. But everyone's welcome to do any kind of Star Wars theme they like, and it is a competition, so the best decorated cupcake is the winner. So the cupcake we'll be doing today is our BB-8 unit with the holiday Christmas lights around it. So the things you'll need to make this BB-8 cupcake is buttercream frosting. Obviously, your cupcakes, and I like to choose one that's not too rounded on the top. So first, I'm going to start off with the cupcake base. You're going to need a base of frosting to stick all of your fondant decorations on top of it. This is going to work as our glue. So you're just going to scoop up a little bit. You're going to spread it onto your cupcake. Not too much, just enough for the fondant to stick. So fondant is just similar to a sugar paste. So you have to knead it in order for it to be nice and soft. So that's what I'm doing now. So at home, you just need a surface that's nice and clean. We do have here non-stick surfaces, but a clean counter table will work just fine. I spin my fondant like this. I lift and spin to get that perfect circle. This is our large cookie cutter, which we're going to use for the base. So once it's stamped, you're going to lift, going to place it onto the bottom of the cupcake. This. And now we're going to work on his head, which we're going to be using the same fondant. Just knead it back again. going to roll it out. Smaller circle for our BB-8 head. We're going to stamp our fondant. Lift it. And now we're going to create his head shape. We're going to be cutting it halfway. We'll be using the pizza cutter to create kind of like a crescent. Do like the smile cut, like a small cut like this. So the toothpick will be going into our cupcake towards the top to hold our BB-8's head, and just lay our head on top. Just press it down if you need to. So now we're going to move on to his face and his eye. We'll be working with the black fondant. So again, you're going to roll this black fondant in the palm of your hands. Once you have a nice ball, you're going to press it down. So for sticking fondant onto fondant, we'll be using water as glue. So we'll be dipping our brush, placing some water on top of his head, and then placing that eyeball. So we'll be doing a second circle next to his eye. So I'm just going to create that crease right here. This is just to make it seem like BB-8's head is like above its body. All you have to do is roll a rope in your hand. This is going to go right under his his face where his face meets the body of the BB-8. So to make these circles, I'm will be I'll be using this small circle cutter. So I won't mess up my perfect circles. Just press down where you will like the circle. So we're going to be squeezing just to get these nice circles. So we're going to be rolling our black fondant again. We'll be using water to stick on our fondant, then draping it onto BB-8. So now we're going to put those nice shiny Christmas lights on top with our red and our green fondant. Now that we have our lights along BB-8, we're going to be doing our smaller details, which is his eye and his little antenna. And there's our finished BB-8 with his holiday Christmas lights, ready for his party.

That is so good. Oh, that is so good. The vanilla with the chocolate. Tastes like marshmallow. Like a marshmallow. Mmm. And the chocolate. Oh my God.

Michelle

And this is all like Duff's. This is all Duff's. Yeah, this are Duff's recipes. So we use his to create our cupcakes here.
