Danica Patrick Talks ESPYs & Passion Projects Around The World With Aaron Rodgers

What's up guys? Leslie Robbins here in the Young Hollywood studio, joined by Miss Danica Patrick.

It's so great to have you in the studio finally. I'm always at race track.

Yeah. I know. That's right.

I saw you at Fontana last time.

I know. This is great. Were we doing chalk on the ground?

We were doing chalk on the ground. That's right. It was your birthday. Aw. Happy Birthday to you. We had a cupcake, everyone sang, it was wonderful. We've had a lot of fun. We've had a lot of.

I haven't had a lot of cupcakes lately. That's not true. I made healthy cupcakes the other day and I had like, it had spilled over, so I ate the corner off. Yeah.

Wait, you didn't just eat the whole cupcake?

No, but I made an amazing, it was like a vanilla, like a healthy vanilla mix.

Why did you have one, though? Well, because I got the SBs. You're the host of the SBs. I mean, you have lots of titles, of course. Host of the SBs, race car driver, retired race car driver, entrepreneur, fitness guru, nutrition buff. You have a lot of titles.

You are the queen of the side hustle.

Oh, yeah, that's right. Way to go. Good job, you got it in.

I did. Of course. Totally. Yeah. That's amazing. Now, what kind of mindset do you need to have to master the side hustle?

For me, I just feel like you have to follow your passions. Like, I love to cook, so that's one of the things that I'm going to make a business of, you know. I love to, I love, I'm artistic, so my clothing line. Um, I love working out, so the fitness part of things. So, you know, for me it's very straightforward. I love wine, I have a wine business. So, you know, these are all just passions of mine, or passion projects as they're called, you know. So, it's just really about figuring out, you know. You don't even have to figure it out, you already know. It's just admitting to yourself that it's possible to make something bigger out of it.

So, is there a title you don't have yet that is on the horizon?

I would like a cooking show someday.

What would be your specialty? Obviously, healthy cooking.

Yeah. And I think that there's a little bit of an empty space in in on in in the cooking channel world for like real, true, healthy um shows. So, that would definitely be a prerequisite for the show.

I have a title for you, girlfriend to girlfriend, that maybe it would be really cool to have in the future, maybe. Okay. Mrs. Aaron Rodgers, maybe?

Wait, I take his first name, too? It's like when someone's mailing you a letter, it would be Mrs. Yeah. Oh, that's true. Like wedding invitations. Oh, yes. I wasn't even thinking that. Oh my God, that title. Girlfriend to girlfriend. From other people. Gosh, where is this going? I don't know. Yeah. Um, well, he's, he's wonderful. So.

And what a nice kind of coming full circle. You met at the SBs in 2012. Now, you're hosting the show, first female to do so, by the way. Amazing.

Yeah. It is, isn't that crazy? 25 years of the show and there's never been a female host. I, I, it's surprising. It's not that there wasn't effort along the way, so I'm told. It's just that it didn't work out. And so, you know, I would have never been able to do it before this year anyway because of um, racing and you know, always being gone on the weekends. So, it really worked out perfect. I'm, I'm, I'm really fortunate and grateful that it, I'm, I'm happy to be the first. It's amazing.

And you talked about racing, being gone all the time, to say goodbye to the sport. You did the Danica Double. You raced the Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500. A really cool way to give your fans a nice send off.

Well, I mean, I spent, I mean, I spent seven years in each, really. So, for me, it was a great way to say goodbye to all the fans. For me to be able to say goodbye in a, um, you know, a more significant way instead of just being done. So, last year when I was going to figuring out what what I was going to do moving forward, it just didn't feel right to just be done. Although I was prepared for that.

You have a lot more time on your hands now, which is good. But you're so busy with other things, do you really have free time now?

Not really. I'm almost busier than I used to be. I'm definitely more unpredictably busy. Like, you know, my sister tells me, she's like, girl, I don't even know where you are anymore. I'll call her and I'll be like, I'm in Ireland or, uh, yeah, I'm in LA, or I'm in here, you know. She's like, I can't keep track of you. So, um, it's, uh, it's been some like lots of fun trips and we took a trip around the world. We went and met the Dalai Lama in India.

I was just going to say, you went to go meet the Dalai.

We went and did, um, uh, we went and fitted um, people for hearing aids in Africa on the way around the world after India, um, for um, Starkey Hearing Foundation. So, I mean, we've done some amazing things.
