Coachella: Macy Gray

Welcome to younghollywood. com. Hey guys, it's Michelle Mari with Young Hollywood and Rayban. We are here at the BMF house. I'm here with Macy Gray, who's. When I look around, I'll see blue skies, I'll see butterflies. Coachella is all about finding rare finds. So is there a band right now that you want to look for at the festival?

It is a tongue, like, I love I love discovering new music and the best way to do that is to show up at a a club or a festival. Right.

So when you were younger, were you influenced by anyone in particular?

Yeah, my my the first concert I went to on my own was, um, Prince.

Was Prince? That's a good one to go to. I went to the Purple Rain tour. Prince was actually here a couple years ago, I believe. So, I mean, they always bring someone that's like old-school that is a classic act like Jay-Z this year.

Oh yeah, they got Sly Stone this year. Yeah.

So what's going on with Macy right now? What can we know about anything that you're working on musically or where can we see you soon?

Oh, my album is called The Sellout. It's the best album I've ever made and uh, the best album a lot of people have made. It's really it's a really great record. Yeah.

Anyone exciting that you collaborated with you can tell us about on the album?

Um, Bobby Brown.

Really?

Yeah.

Oh, awesome.

I know. And uh, Velvet Revolver/Duff and Matt and

It sounds like you have a lot of sounds on the album. It sounds like it's a total eclectic mix of different people. I like that. Music and fashion go hand-in-hand and you definitely have a fashion sense and your own style. So how would you describe it to the viewers? If you were to say like, this is my style, this is how I rock it every day.

You know what? I love I love to be comfortable, like that's my main thing, like, I can't really be myself, I feel sexy if I don't if I'm not comfortable. Yeah, so I have I only really have on is a white t-shirt and jeans, but like you add all this stuff and you look pretty cool. There is beauty in the world, so much beauty in the world. Always beauty in the world, so much beauty in the world. So shake your boots your boys and girls, for the beauty in the world. Take your diamond, take your pearls. There is beauty in the world. All together now.

What is it that you do as far as creating a formula to getting on stage? You just go out there or do you have a ritual before you go on stage?

I put a shot of Grand Marnier in my tea.

Really?

Yeah, and like a ton of honey. I I always pray. I always check in, you know, with the one who gave me my talent and um and uh I just, you know, you just got to get your mind into it. It's a it's definitely a mental spiritual thing being up there.

When you go out there and you spend the whole day, you know, in the fields. What would a person that doesn't know what Coachella is about need to bring to survive?

Well, people don't know about this. They have these in Europe, there's these there are these little portable toilets. And you can carry around your own toilet. Yeah, cuz the Porta Potties are disgusting. You don't want to go anywhere near those unless you want a disease. But they have these like little portable toilets and you fold them out and you take a dump and then you Like, you set it like it's it like say you want to take a dump right here. So you set it on top of this, right? Right. And then the dump would go here and then you pick up your toilet and leave.

You're kidding me.

I swear to God.

Cuz that is the rarest find I think that we will ever know about.
