RJ here hanging out at the Young Hollywood Studio at the Four Seasons with NBA sensation. Now, I got to say sensation. Brandon Jennings, lots to talk to you about, but a game with 55 points. I mean, most people in their entire career never have a game like that. What was going through your mind after after doing that?

Brandon Jennings

Well, main thing is I didn't get a chance to score in the first quarter. So, uh you know, I just wanted to come back, come back out and try to at least do a little bit better, but a little bit came, came to doing uh great, actually, you know, scoring 29 points in the third quarter and then also uh just winning the game, mostly, you know. And then just to score 55 points in my seventh game of the NBA season, um, it's pretty amazing.

RJ Williams

So, the game's done, it's finished. People are all telling you what you just did. What was going through your mind then?

Brandon Jennings

Well, I had about 30 text messages, 20 emails and my phone wouldn't just stop ringing. So, I knew I had did something great, um, and then to be the youngest player, you know, that's pretty amazing too.

RJ Williams

Now, finals are coming up. Let's talk about that. We got a Lakers versus Celtics action. What's your pick for the for the series? Lakers or Celtics.

Brandon Jennings

Um, I like the way the Celtics are playing right now. They're playing they're real hungry. Um, but, you know, the Lakers, they've been here before. Um, Kobe, you know, he's trying to go for his fifth ring. So, um, right now, I really don't know who to pick, but I think it's going to be, I think it's really going to go to seven games.

RJ Williams

And how do you think they their styles are different? Like if you were playing the Lakers, how would you alter your game if if you were going to play the Celtics?

Brandon Jennings

Well, playing the Celtics, you have to watch out for Rajon Rondo. I feel like Rondo has their team going. Um, when when he's pushing the ball fast break, when he's getting the guys easy shots, I think Boston is is unstoppable. Um, the Lakers I mean, of course, when Kobe gets going, um, when Paul Gasol's at top of his game, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom, and also uh, Ron Artest. When they're all playing and good and they and they bring something to the table, you know, the Lakers are are unstoppable too. So, I think the key if Boston wants to win it all, Rajon Rondo's going to have to be the be the big part of that.

RJ Williams

Now let's talk about defense, because a lot of people are saying Celtics have a a really strong defense. And when you were you were playing in Europe, they would always say that. Defense, defense, defense. Is defense the key?

Brandon Jennings

Yeah, defense is is the way you're going to win championships.

RJ Williams

Right. Now, what else are you doing during the off season? You got some down time now. You're in Cali, your your hometown. What are you doing? What's a typical day for you on a

Brandon Jennings

on a typical day for me? Actually, uh, if you read my Twitter, I'm always at Roscoe's.

RJ Williams

What do you get at Roscoe's?

Brandon Jennings

A number nine, the Country Boy.

RJ Williams

Country Boy.

Brandon Jennings

With the sunset. Don't forget that, with the sunset.

RJ Williams

Last thing I want to know, if if, you know, someone out there, young, high school kid, trying to trying to make it, and he's up against tons of competition. How do you stay focused and how do you you keep that drive when you have dreams of making it in the NBA?

Brandon Jennings

Well, I feel like you can't get caught up in what the media say, or what everybody else say. Cause at the end of the day, um, you're the one out there between those lines for playing. So whatever you do between the lines, can't nobody say anything about you. Um, and I just feel like the harder you work during peace, the less you bleed during war.

RJ Williams

Wow. One one more time. What was that quote? That was a good one.

Brandon Jennings

The harder you work during peace, the less you bleed during war. So, the harder you work when nobody's watching, the less you bleed when you're out there, you know, competing.

RJ Williams

Wow. Words of wisdom. Brandon Jennings. Thank you, man. little fun time.
