Young Hollywood

What's up, guys? It's Michelle Marie here at the Young Hollywood Studio at the Four Seasons Hotel with the one and only Aaron Fresh, who I might say is already keeping it real right before the interview.

Aaron Fresh

Thank you. Thank you.

Young Hollywood

You already have our Young Hollywood theme song. What's up with that? You ready for it? You ready?

Aaron Fresh

I'm ready. Young Hollywood makes me make feel so good. Just good for the Hollywood.

Young Hollywood

You gotta put your hands in the air when you do it. There you go. Feel so good. Well, well, and that's a wrap. So how do you combine the beatbox and that? That's pretty talented.

Aaron Fresh

Um. You know, nobody even really knows that I beatbox. It's just that I do it, you know. My mom thinks I have a problem because every time we're in the grocery store, I'm like, "Let's get some chicken." And she's like, Um, can you stop?

Young Hollywood

Let's talk about You know, the story about how you got discovered is It's crazy, right? Pretty insane. I mean, you were, you were actually rehearsing for a high school talent show.

Aaron Fresh

Yes.

Young Hollywood

And our guy was actually walking to his car and heard you sing and was like, "Hey, I wanna sign you." Nick Cannon.

Aaron Fresh

Well, you know, well, yeah. So he was walking by, you know, the window was open, me and my friend singing K-Ci & JoJo, "I will never find another love." You killed it. And we won that talent show, by the way, about 100 bucks. Oh. And an hour right after. He was walking by and, you know, he heard us singing. He was, he knocked on the door. He's like, "Yo, you should come to the studio once in a while."

Young Hollywood

Mhm.

Aaron Fresh

Of course, me and my mom were like, "Uh, I don't know you." Yeah, you were weird. You know what I'm saying? But, uh, fortunately, we were, we went, you know, we tested out the waters. We recorded like three songs. Then Nick came through and, uh, he was like, within five minutes. He's like, "Yeah, let's do it."

Young Hollywood

So your single, Spending All My Time, is like something that I can't even get out of my head. What's up with that?

Aaron Fresh

You like that? You like that? Yes. Spending all my time loving you. That's why. Yes. Um, that, that single, it's a great song. It was written by the Jam, uh, Jordan. Um, unfortunately, I didn't write on it. I would love to write on it, but

Young Hollywood

But it's a hit.

Aaron Fresh

But it's a hit. And, you know, when, when he first played it for me, it was like a straight pop song. It was The brighter came along enough on the wall. And, you know, I me having my own identity with my music, I wanted to put the Trinidadian dancehall flavor into the the American pop R&B that everybody's accustomed to. And

Young Hollywood

So if you were to describe your sound, because it's so unique.

Aaron Fresh

Um, I would just say it's a mixture between the American pop R&B mixed with the dancehall Trinidadian local stuff that I'm accustomed to. Right. Being raised in Trinidad, too. I was born in America, but raised in Trinidad and Tobago.

Young Hollywood

Now, where did that, uh, the whole name Aaron Fresh come from?

Aaron Fresh

That was actually between me and Nick. Uh, it was behind the scenes of a Dirty Girl where he was like, "Yo, man, I like the way you're dressing. You sound fresh, man. Kinda fresh." I was like, "Yeah, you know me. Aaron Fresh. How I keeps it." And then, uh, when I went into the studio, everybody was like, "Yo, Aaron Fresh. Hey, Aaron Fresh." I was like, "That's it." It's growing on me, huh.

Young Hollywood

What's your relationship like with Nick?

Aaron Fresh

He's like my big brother, you know. He's definitely like a family member to me. He, he teaches, he tells me right from wrong because he started off at my age, too. Right. So he can, he could totally relate to what I'm going through right now with all the, uh, you know, everything that's coming to, towards me, you know, uh, the promo shows and, you know, doing other shows, TV shows and stuff. So he's like, "Yo, I'm about to prep you for this. You have to know right from wrong and don't get too big-headed. I'll punch you in the chest."

Young Hollywood

That's good advice. So what's the one thing that you think that you took away as far as the advice he gave you as an artist?

Aaron Fresh

The best advice that he's given me so far is to go hard or go home. That's like the motto of Incredible right now. Uh, you know, we work hard, todos los dias. Every day. Todos los dias. That's how we do it.

Young Hollywood

I like it. I like it. We're Thank you so much. It was great to have you in the studio and once again, keep an eye on this guy. He is gonna blow up. Aaron Fresh. Holla!

Aaron Fresh

You gotta put Snoop Dogg on it 'cause it feels so, you know. So cool back LA. makes me feel so good. Y'all, when I feel good. Young Hollywood. You know what I'm saying? And then you get Jay-Z to come through. It's your boy. Yeah. Yeah. Want to, uh, Young Hollywood makes me feel so good. Are you ready? I'm ready. All right. We out. Uh, on to the next one in Young Hollywood. Cheers.
