The Cast of "The New Normal" Turn the Tables

About this video
Nothing is quite as it should be when the stars of NBC's comedy "The New Normal" drop by the Studio! After Georgia King, Justin Bartha, and Andrew Rannells pull a switcheroo and begin interrogating our host, we address a few questions of our own, such as: What IS the "new normal" anyway? Is it okay to eat someone else's leftover room service? Should you keep rolling when the window shade falls off? And are Brits allowed to fist-bump? Hosted by Oliver Trevena.

Hello. Hello. Hello. Um, we're here with the cast of The New Normal on NBC. Please tune in and watch us on Tuesdays at 9:30.
What do you guys doing this? 'Cause it's. Cause I've been working. I love you. What was that? I know. What was that? They're talking, loudly. Georgia made a new friend. We're here at Young Hollywood, where love is made. And if you wanna find out why their fists are on their uh what are these called? Shins. Why their fists are on their shins, and why there's a creepy guy next to Georgia, stay tuned for The New Normal. The New Normal. Oh, at Hollywood. At Old Hollywood. Oh, it's Young Hollywood. It's not Old Hollywood. It's Young. Look at me. Is there an Old Hollywood.
It's Young Hollywood. Oh, you just see pictures of senior citizens with breast implants. I've looked, there's not one.
Yeah. I'm here with Georgia King, Andrew Rannells, and Justin Bartha. How are you?
Great, you. Thanks for stopping in. Thanks for having me.
I was just telling Andrew that I wish I got the memo. He's very dapper, isn't he? He's a very dapper man. Is this what he's like on a daily basis?
This is when he sleeps in. He actually rolled out of bed. Came right to the interview.
Wow. Wow. I don't like you. At all. you look you look back and I I'm envious of your socks, Andrew. Thank you. The New Normal. It's brilliant. It's hilarious. You are very funny people.
Thank you.
Why are you? You are. Please continue. I'm being honest as well. Sometimes I do lie on this sofa. I do. I have
So how do we know you're not lying now? Look in my eyes.
Okay. Or maybe you should look in the camera's eye. They're really They're really, really funny people. And you two are a gay couple in the in the show.
Oh yeah, we are on the show too. In real life? Yeah. Amazing. No, we are not a gay couple in real. I mean, we're not. We'll work on it. Maybe by the second season. You're breaking up with me. I'm breaking up with you. Oh don't do it now. This is a perfect place to break up with Justin. I it's not the first it's not the first time I've been broken up with on the internet. Oh, really? Is that real? Figure that one out. Is that true? Yes, well, I. Save me. Save me, come in.
Um, you your partner's a surrogate mother.
I play the surrogate mother, Goldie. Yes she does. She plays the surrogate mother. Uh, we play gay couple, yes, and we uh, we realize it's time to uh, to start a family. We would like to start a family. So we enlist uh, the help of of Georgia King here, who plays our uh, our lovely surrogate. And Georgia, who do you bring with you? Oh, um, Andrew, I bring my daughter Shanaya. Should this be if we wanna talk, we should do this. This is my listening face. Oh, I thought it was. It's actually it's also the pose on your headshot. It is. I bring my daughter Shanaya, uh, played by Bebe Wood. Wonderful actress. Amazing, amazing little girl. And uh, and then my bigoted grandmother, who's played by Ellen Barkin, and I try and escape from that world. And she unfortunately follows me, tracks me down, and um, yeah, so it's Hell ensues. Yeah, it's sort of a it's sort of a very unexpected group of people that come together to to start this family. And showing The New Normal way of life. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Which should be normal. You know, it's like. Well it is. I mean, I think that's it's there's like an irony to the title. It seems so blunt and straightforward, but it just kind of is reality. So it's kind of the last, you know, bastion of political incorrectness I guess. Like a serious subject with with a funny twist. Yeah, sure, but I and I think we also sort of set up in the pilot as well as um, uh, that uh, there's all types of New Normals, you know. And this is just one of them. This is just one, you know, Georgia's character is also a version of a New Normal. She's a single mom. Is he a virgin? So I certainly know not. I was gonna say now I know you're lying. Yeah, right? She's uh, she's a version of a of The New Normal. She's a single mom who's like raising a daughter with the help of her grandmother, and like that's not Awful husband. And yeah, cheating husband. And I mean, so that's that's also a version of of The New Normal. So. Virgin. We're just um, oh. The window just fell off the balcony. Yay! Is that normal? Is that is that The New Normal for the Young Hollywood. com? You would have thought. Do we continue? Luckily it wasn't the roof. It's always my interviews. Georgie's farting. Not me. It was terrible. My dog farted in the middle of an interview on Tuesday, and it really was probably the worst one she's ever done. It stunk. Like we had to disconnect mics and leave the room. How do you know it wasn't I think it was. I think it was. 'Cause I do that. I blame it on my dog all the time. What were we talking about? We're talking about how lonely you are. Oh, yeah. How lonely you are, and how your dog. That seems like such a more of an interesting conversation than talking about our show. What's your what's your New Normal, Andrew? My New Normal is single man with a dog. Are you a single man with a dog? Is it are you having trouble meeting someone in Los Angeles? I am, which is why really you're not here to promote the film, you're here to promote me and my love life. What are you looking for? What are you looking for? But you know, we're trying to into our show deals with real issues. And I think the best way to promote it is actually talk about your issues. Let's talk about your life and why you can't meet someone. Yeah, what kind of person do you like to meet, and we'll try and find that person. I'm not that picky, breathing. Breathing. Breathing. Do you know any? Do I know any single breathing people? I gotta say, you did try to hook me up with a really hot cadaver once. Oh, yeah, how was that? Did it work out? Uh, cold. Oh. And dry. So not a hot cadaver at all. I don't like this, talking about me. Okay. Oh, no. Let's talk about you. Okay. Yes. So anyway, New Normals. I've got a little game. We can play a game. We'll use technology. Yeah, I love a game. Okay, okay. Right, so you're gonna look at that screen behind you. All right, all right. It's called it's called New Normal or Not Normal. Oh my God. And you have to judge if you think this is normal or not normal. Okay? Are you ready? Yes. Yes. Okay. Uh that's normal for L. A. Well, yeah, that seems normal. For L. A. It's it's kinda That's acceptable, isn't it? I just think it's silly. I think it's silly as well. I'm with you, Georgia. Fist bump. Brits all the way. Don't know if that was normal for two British people. We'll continue. You guys didn't think that was normal, right? No. Right, it's because you're English and you don't exercise, right? Okay, next. Wow. It's just sad. That's sad. But none of these feel like. But sad is normal. True. So therefore, It is normal. It's normal. Okay. Okay. Hunger is normal. Oh, okay. What is this what is this shot? She's on Twitter. She's watching The Kat Von D. Yeah, I would say that's normal. Why is it normal though? You're watching TV, you should focus on the TV show. How would you feel if people watching The New Normal? I I expect multitasking. But you're interviewing us and we're looking at the TV. Yeah. That happens all the time. I'm actually interviewing celebrities, they focus with me all the time. It's fine. You know what? It's fine. I'm gonna tweet this right now. Oh, what what are we gonna tweet right now? Um, I'm actually trying to find a date for you. Okay. No, only cadavers. And there's Georgie. Oh, Georgie. Georgie couldn't be here today. She's chilling in the pool because bulldogs can't swim, and shame on you for putting your dog in the pool. Well you know what? I didn't do that. That was why I left my dog in the safe hands of one of our producers, and she did it. There is a lot of that. Oh, okay, that's good. How is it working uh, Ryan Murphy obviously, Please. He's amazing. Uh yeah, he's amazing. We I think we were all fans of his before we start. I mean I'm a big fan of Glee and American Horror Story last year. I loved, I loved, loved. Um, so yeah, he's he's been amazing. We we've been fortunate that he's been uh, he's directed quite a few of the episodes so far, and will continue to direct some, so he's always uh, It's always good to have a big powerhouse behind you, isn't it? Yeah. He's he I mean, you know, we don't like to throw this word around as it is thrown around, but he's pretty close to a genius. Pretty close. Yeah. Right, in camera. We've done a good job of picking you three. Oh thank you very much. Bless your heart. We'll go back to saying you're very funny, very talented people, and very beautiful. Beautiful. We like to keep this sofa good looking at Young Hollywood and you're doing a great job at keeping that. Thank you very much. Thank you for coming in. Thank you. That's what I was fishing for. Let's wrap this up. The New Normal, watch it.
