This is the third season of 5-0 and it's actually the first season where people in Asia have recognized me more for Hawaii 5-0 than Lost.

That's what I was going to ask, which one are they they noticing you from? So that's interesting.

Really depends on the country.

Aloha! You can tell I actually want to be in Hawaii right now. But I'm in Los Angeles but our next guest is in Hawaii because he's one of the stars of Hawaii 5-0. Talking none other than Daniel Dae Kim who is waiting at his house for us right now. So let's go see what Daniel Dae Kim is up to. Got to love technology the things you can do right now. Hi! Hello there. How are ya?

I'm good. How are you?

Good. Jealous that you're in Hawaii and I am not.

Ah well you look very tropical right now.

Right? I I had to get in the spirit for you. At least feel like I'm there if I can't actually be there. So thanks for connecting with us you're actually at your house right now is that it?

Yeah this is my house.

Very very cool. So what's going on life in Hawaii these days?

Uh you know the weather's fabulous as always. I'm looking out my window at some beautiful palm trees and uh uh life can't life can't be too bad.

Are you getting like any surfing in? Are you able to to enjoy any of that now?

Uh you know I don't surf as often as a lot of my other cast members. I like it but it's not something that calls to me. You know like so many so many people just just they live to be in the water. I like it but it I don't crave it.

I'm Kilmer, Ray. McGarrett spoke very highly of me. How do you know McGarrett? I trained him.

So I need need a quick rundown. Like what are like the three places if you're going to Hawaii you absolutely have to check out?

Wow. Okay. Uh let's see. I think you need to check out Kualoa Valley uh on the north shore of the island. It's where we filmed a lot of Lost and a bunch of episodes of 5-0. There are these incredibly majestic mountains that that go right into the ocean and it's uh it's where they shot a lot of Jurassic Park as well. Yeah and it's it's beautiful there. I I highly recommend it. Uh I'd also recommend uh going up to Haleiwa and getting a little uh shave ice at Matsumoto's. That's uh a Hawaiian tradition. Uh and uh I'm a big foodie. So I would also suggest going to a place like Side Street Inn which is local grinds and uh and it's a place where all the the the fancy chefs go after they're done with their restaurants and they go there to eat.

So season three that that's a a big milestone. Nowadays to get past season one is is pretty huge. That's true. Well what are you seeing the differences now like from when you first started the show to to what's going on now that you're a few episodes into the new season?

Well what I can say uh is that the cast is gelling better than we ever have. I think um I think there's a an energy now that we know each other we know our working style. We kind of know the territory that that's kind of allowing us to be more relaxed, more easy and uh more like a family than ever.

And now you know speaking of the acting Lost obviously I mean that really resonated in pop culture. I mean that was one of those few shows that years still continues to transcend itself. Do you still have people coming up to you based on that?

I do. Yeah I'm really surprised. Actually this is the first year of 5-0. Now we're in our third season of Hawaii 5-0 as I put up four fingers. You notice that? It's like a Hawaii thing right? It's okay. Three uh no uh this is the third season of 5-0 and it's actually the first season where people in Asia have recognized me more for Hawaii 5-0 than Lost.

That's what I was going to ask which one are they they noticing you from? So that's interesting.

Really depends on the country. You know I go to Korea and I played a Korean character. So you know on Lost and so they're going to recognize me from Lost first. But when I was in Singapore it was about 80% Hawaii 5-0. So it's just curious.

Any like new technologies or anything that that you're loving right now? Any websites you've discovered? We always just love showing our audience cool new things through you know through our guests of the show.

Sure. Uh some of my favorite websites right now are Uncrate. I don't know if you you guys know about Uncrate. It's a new one.

We love that. What is it? Tell us.

Everything like what was on it the other day was this uh this whiskey that was actually distilled on a boat a boat for 12 years. Not inside the hull on the deck. But this was a a boat that was designed to uh research sharks. So it's actually it's uh they call it like a shark whiskey.

So last thing we're going to let you run but what are you doing after this? You're going to hang up with us. Take us through the rest of the day for you. What are you going to do?

Well that's that's a good question. Uh I got a couple of calls I need to make. Uh and then uh my birthday's coming up in a few days so I got a buddy taking me out to get some crawfish for dinner tonight.

Wow.

Yeah. I want I want inner peace.
