Thank you. Well, congratulations on your nomination for the Emmys. Best supporting actress. How was it? How was it?

Okay, first of all, the carpet, we were there. It was ridiculously hot. It was ridiculously hot. I kept going up to all the little fans and just lifting my dress up to get a little bit of air.

Was anybody photographing you during that?

No, but did you see what I was wearing? It was a beautiful dress, but you know, it was like two of us at the party.

Well, how did you choose the dress? The color.

I just love the color. I saw the color hanging up and I just went, I want to wear that.

So, designer Core Rani Rum made this dress. What I loved about her, she just treats every dress like a child and then she names them.

So, the name of that dress is Christine.

Why Christine?

I have no idea. I'll have to ask her. I think I think she made a similar dress like this for um a client, I think, and it was for a client called Christine. I'm in so much trouble if that's wrong.

So, you so there really were two people. It was Archie, there was Archie Christine on the carpet last night. And you were on, I know this morning you're on a lot of best dressed lists. Does that sort of is that something you pay attention to?

You hope I was on that but that's fine.

You are. You sort of mentioned when you type in, actually when you Google Emmy best dressed, your name comes up.

Yes. Oh, that's so nice.

Did you so you obviously don't pay attention to that cuz I would be Googling myself moments after the ceremony.

You know, I I went out last night, I got up this morning, I I dressed so I haven't really looked at that and sometimes Googling is tough because you're always gonna read something crap about you and then you'll only remember that and you'll forget the good stuff.

Right. You can read 99 good things, one bad thing and you remember that. So let's talk about the parties. Did you hit any of the parties?

Um, I went to obviously the governor's ball, which is great. And then I um headed out to the HBO party which was fabulous. That was sort of the party. Yeah, it was really nice. The food was great. The atmosphere was nice and you know, the music is loud but you can also talk. Sometimes when it's too loud you can't even talk to people and I don't get to see everybody here.

Anybody in particular?

I saw Charles McDougal who is the director, British director who um did the pilot of The Good Wife. Actually cast me in the job, so it was really nice to see him.

Oh, so you have to sort of

Yeah, gave him the biggest hug ever. He's such a great director.

I bet, I bet. And I read I read a crow, I don't know if this is true or not, that your mom once told you, you should always leave a party just when it's getting really, really good. Did you do that?

Um yes, I did.

Okay, so you followed your mom's advice.

I did.

And what was her sort of Cuz when a party gets good, I'm just staying. I'll stay until it gets bad.

I wanna stay but don't you think when a party gets really good, you just know at some point it's gonna go down.

Yes. Yeah. I wait till that point. Yeah. That's the point. That's the point. Yeah, cuz you're that kind of girl. I could see that. Oh really? I'm a little Well, let's talk about your character a little in this season cuz at the same time the Emmys were on last night,

The premiere of The Good Wife was on. And I know all summer the last time you were here, we talked about how you loved Larry Hagman

It was JR moment. It was JR moment. It felt like that.

behind the door and it was finally revealed. So, what can you sort of tell us about what's to come?

Well, whoever is behind that door, or what it's about, it's gonna throw her life into turmoil. So, it's sort of the first time you're getting it back. Well, we've seen you know, for the past three seasons, she's always been very mysterious and she always manages to manipulate everybody and get the job done. This time around, she's getting hers. It's her turn.

Really? And some fight, it's been a lot of sort of There's a lot of physical stuff. As you know. And are we talking we're talking fighting. We're not cuz you've done some physical stuff in the past but in a different vein. We're talking fighting, we're talking.

Oh, you can say whatever you like, Archie. You should know that about us. Let's just say they get very physical and she cannot The tough thing is, is he's such a dangerous man and he has such an impact on her. He can manipulate her physically and mentally.

And speaking of your mom again, you've talked about in the past how your your parents really wanted you to have an education. And how do they feel now that you've been nominated for an Emmy, you've won an Emmy, are they?

Um, oh, they're very they're very thrilled, they're very proud. She always says to me, she says, you know, I always play really strange characters, don't I? But those characters are interesting. Isn't it? They're much more challenging to play.

Well, I wouldn't know, you tell me.

Well, Kalinda's great fun to play. Really, really, really great fun to play. Yeah, never a dull moment. I've been shocked by what they've given me to do. Really? Yeah. I've read a script and I go, Really? CBS want to do that? Okay.

Oh wow, this this gives us good I really gotta watch this season of The Good Wife. This is really sounding juicy. So, I have a little game for you.

Just things that just random questions. Okay. Did you are these influenced by my mother? Yes, she told me to ask you this. When are you going back to school? No, kidding. Okay, favorite dress last night on the Emmy carpet other than your own?

Uh, favorite dress. Padma Lakshmi. Beautiful. I love her. I think she's beautiful.

Favorite speech?

Aaron Paul. It was very from the heart, wasn't it? Yeah, very much, very much. I actually met him just before he went up. And I mean he's such a great actor. He's such a down to earth guy and when he went up it was just completely You really felt that he was so you really felt his emotion. I think those are the best speeches. Yeah. Yeah.

Um, so favorite restaurant, neither city? London and New York.

Oh, gosh. New York, there's a really cute little place in the East Side that they do the best Indian food ever. Really? Yeah. It's called Handi and it's very handy.

That sounded kinky. Okay. You know, if you came on the show, you'd be a really good partner for Kalinda. I this is the I'm getting so many compliments here. That is like the highest compliment you could pay me, saying that I'm almost a little bit naughty. Okay, you play such an amazing dramatic actress. Do you watch any reality shows?

Um, I don't watch TV just cuz I'm on it. No, just cuz I work I work so hard on it that it's hard to actually find time to do it. So, I may flick through stuff like um what's that? Kim Kardashian. I'll flick through it but I don't actually sit down and watch it.

I love that you sort of had to think about her name. How refreshing is that? Sometimes you know, they're just they're just interesting to, you know, they're good to flick on to. And I know you once did voice-overs for video games. If you ever played a comic book or video game heroine, who would you like to play?
