I am JD Pardo from Revolution. Check out what we do with arrows and apples in this interview.
Hungry? Well, first off, the show has been picked up.
Yes, thank you.
Thank you. Congratulations.
Thank you. Thank you.
What was that because they I mean it's JJ Abrams, somebody who's had so much success in film and TV. Rio his end of his before and then Jon Favreau's executive producing and directing the pilot. Jon Favreau, you know, I've I you know from swingers and made and just his career as as you know, he started off acting and then of course his his role in friends. He knew that there was a just as an actor that he had to go beyond that. And so he got into screen writing and then directing and then look at him now. I mean he's just Well, he's just taking off now, hasn't he? He's he's amazing. And he has this his show called Revolution. So what was the process? Did you have to audition for each of them? What's what was the audition process like for you on that show? So, I would imagine it would be pretty intense.
They you really should have like a video recording what goes on in a waiting room for an audition. There's a show right there. That's a reality show. Yeah. It's funny. You have the actors who want to seem like they have it all together. So they're just kind of, you know, there looking at the other actors, scoping everybody out. Then you have the other actors who will, you know, be looking at the lines and freaking out. They're trying to remember it. You have another actor who like stand up against the wall and just kind of like, no. No, no. So
So they really go, So what is what's your persona? Uh, I just putting yourself on T
I have everything. No, no. I have everything worked out. I have it memorized. I, you know, I have all my lines. So I just go there and I just sit and wait. And then when I start watching everybody if I watch people too much, then I'm like pulling out my sides like, did I really get that right? But the cool thing about it is you just have to trust. You just have to trust yourself. And if you did the work, then, you know, you go into the room and do it.
Well, we have a game for you.
Okay. I'm pumped.
Oh good. Oh, good. It's kind of like what you would choose if you really lived in like Revolution World with no electricity. Okay. Okay. So, in the world of Revolution, the electricity has gone out. What would you rather have? A hot shower or microwave chicken dinner?
Hot shower.
Microwave chicken dinner. That's a good answer. What would you rather have? 20 minutes of power to check your text messages or 20 minutes of power to check your Twitter.
Is there an option three?
Oh, you're not a big communication guy?
No, I mean, I'll tweet stuff like, you know, check out the show, you know. Um if I'm if I'm gonna go with those two, I say text.
So, you're going with the personal route. Okay. Yeah. Well, and that's cool too because right you might need to someone might say like, hey, militia's here.
Exactly. Look behind you. Behind you.
If you could only have enough electricity to listen to one song on your iPod, what would it be?
That's a good one. Um one song. I guess it'll just be the most recent one I heard, which is Janis Joplin's Get it While You Can. Yeah, kind of fitting for the show.
Okay, if you could only have electricity for one DVD?
One DVD? This might sound a little weird, but I'm going to go ahead and say it. Right now, I think it'd have to be Boogie Nights. I love how PT Anderson takes like the first few minutes of the movie and introduces the whole audience to all the characters in one scene. I mean, it's I love it.
So, I wanted to also talk to you about Breaking Dawn Part 2. Just this little movie that you're in.
Yeah, little little Twilight flick.
Sure. Yeah. Never heard of it. Never heard of it. I love it. So, you play Okay, so you're the only human vampire hybrid. Right. So, there's a third person in the mix now, like Team Jacob or Edward or Noel.
Well, I mean, I'm not sure there's a Team Noel, but you know, that's fine.
It might start to happen. And there's a Team Billy Burke. So, wait a sec. Okay, so you met him on the set of Twilight, first Billy Burke? Before you met him on Revolution.
I did not meet him on Twilight. But you just both happen to be on it. Yeah. I I met him um I met him at the table read for Revolution. Um and it was it was really great because he you know, we're we're waiting for him and and we're all sitting down and and Billy comes in with his, you know, just he's just such a rock star, you know, so he just walks in and sits down next to me and Well, we're all getting ready. I I lean over and we go, hey, Billy Burke. He's like, yeah. I'm like, uh you and I did Twilight together. He's like, really? I don't Okay. I'm like, no, no, I'm not saying like we actually No, but his whole thing was like he cuz we didn't have scenes together. You know, so he just He was skeptical.
There's something I would like to get you to do. Okay. Okay. I know you have to do a lot of archery on the show. Okay. Did you bring like a bow and arrow? She brought a bow and arrow. Okay. And I'm gonna be a guinea pig here.
No, don't do it. Don't trust me. Please, don't trust me. This is gonna be horrible. Are you ready? I'm putting the pillow in front of my face, but first. This is crazy. I'm like I just got so nervous. I'm like sweating. I don't want to hit her. I don't know if I can balance the apple on my head. I don't wanna hit her. Oh my God. I'm really close. I got it. It's done. I got it. I got it. It's done.
I didn't feel a thing. That was quite incredible. Can I shoot it in that direction? Uh, Okay, go ahead. What just happened? Oh my God. You did it. You did it. Yes. Thank you so much, Jay. Thank you for coming in and teaching me archery.
Hold on. I just don't know if I'm Just let go, just let your hand go. Pull it back and let your hand go. Yeah, pull it back. Okay. Pull the arrow back. So, and then I just let go with the arrow. No, pull pull on the outside of the like a string there you go, there you go. Like you're pinching it.
Why isn't it going?
Well cuz it doesn't have a guide, but use it, use the put it lay it on the tip of your finger. There you go.
Do I just No not like that. No. No, not like this. Yeah. Yeah. No, not like this. Yeah. Oh, boy. It isn't going to work out is it? Oh, boy. She got it. Oh, that was a nut shot right there. You need to play the slow-mo on that because I'm afraid that that was like a little too like on a on a anatomically correct. I think slow motion. Oh, my God. That was awesome. That was great, guys. That was great.
