The best, one of my favorite villains of all time.

Well, thank you very much. You mean in the film, not in life.

No, I mean in life. No, I mean in life.

Yeah, thank you.

Yeah, you were trying to block my shot before we started rolling. What a villain. You can't do that to a woman in Hollywood. Then you're instantly a villain. But then you get this great reveal. Is that what you were doing? You were setting me up, weren't you?

Yeah, I'm not a villain.

You look fantastic.

I love this scarf, it's a little different from Aro.

Slightly different.

It is a little different, yeah. Slightly different. So is this sort of your everyday or

Well, this is so I can twirl my villainous mustache.

Oh, I see. Well, that works, doesn't it? In life, yeah. Yes. But Dastardly and Muttley. Do you remember Dastardly and Muttley?

What is that?

Dastardly and Muttley were like this, uh, bad guy's double act. There was Dastardly I think was the one who had the twirly mustache in the cartoons, and then Muttley was the dog that laughed like, I guess I'll be the dog and you can do that one. Okay. Should we do it?

Yeah, okay. Ready? One, two, three.

There you go. Oh, how was that? We are now Dastardly and Muttley. So, Breaking Dawn Part 2, have you seen it?

I have. I saw it, I saw the finished version yesterday, actually.

You have. You did? What was your reaction?

I I really enjoyed it. I mean, I still think Aro should win at the end, but I I really enjoyed it.

Spoiler alert. I think it's I think we kind of know though after reading the books. That's the one thing. You can sort of give things away because people have.

Well, yeah. A little bit. But I do think it's a fantastic end to the whole thing, 'cause it is tough to you know, when you've had such an amazing journey with the films and the audience has been so with it. Yeah. You really hope that it kind of rounds off well. And I think this really does. I don't think it could have been any better. And it's quite sentimental in the end. Did you get emotional?

Yes. I I you know, I I have to say

Did Aro's heart melt all of it?

I don't know if Aro's heart melts, but Michael's heart was kind of cracking there at the end, yeah.

And then there was a big twist in it as well.

There certainly is. It's a shocker.

It is. And you get quite shocked in the film.

I I do. You could say that. Yeah. Slightly. Um, I'm you know, don't want to give anything away, but I think people are gonna be going mental. They are gonna be going mental in the movie.

Well, now, when into the screening, people were going mental at every every

Did you go mental?

twist and turn. I did. I haven't come quite back yet. Are you still mental? Are you still a little bit mental?

I'm still a little bit mental.

I can see it in your eyes. Oh, gosh. Really? How so? Just a glimmer of mentalness in that. So, you're from Wales?

I am. Yeah.

So, how long have you lived here, though?

I've lived in Los Angeles for about 11 years now. Yeah.

Did you have any sort of foresight into the sort of success it would have?

Well, because I was in the second film, uh, you know, all the kind of phenomenon had started already. I remember back in, do you remember back in the days when it was announced who was gonna be playing Edward and there was a press conference and all that? I can even remember that and people went crazy. And there hadn't even been a film yet. Because it was already such a cult phenomenon. Yeah. It was an 'cause my daughter, my daughter was very young when the books first came out, but she read them all like multiple times. So when I first was asked if I would, you know, play the part, I tried to I tried to get a bit of info on the character. So I asked my daughter, yeah. But I didn't want to give away that I was maybe gonna be in it just in case it didn't work out for some reason. I didn't want to get her hopes up. So I said to her, you know, those books you read, um, is there a character called Aro? And she went, yeah, he's the head of the Volturi. You're gonna play him. Whoa there, whoa. Um, and uh, and then eventually when I did, you know, get it, I sort of told her, um, and I was thinking she was gonna be really excited and jumping up and down and she just kicked me. No. She was really upset, yeah. But then I thought about it, you know, if you imagine something that you were really into when you were about eight or nine. And she probably, you know, pictured Aro in her mind and it wasn't her dad.

Well, it's just hers.

Yeah, exactly. It's hers. It's not something you want your parent to come along and go, that's mine now. But she did get into it once she knew she can go to the premieres and stuff. She loved it.

And now that it's such an unbelievable phenomenon.

Oh, yeah. Yeah. And also like for her last birthday when we were shooting this film, um, I got Robert and Kristen and Ashley and Nikki and people to do a little video message for her for her birthday and all that. So they they were great.

So she's gotten to meet them all, though.

Yeah.

Did she come to set and she

No, she didn't come to set 'cause she was in school, but um, she's come to the premieres and stuff.

Wow, tough dad. No, no. No young Hollywood, stay in school. Wow. How was it for you sort of adapting to a new director? Was it kind of interesting? Did that sort of add to it?

Yeah, I think that yeah, no, it is really interesting 'cause everyone brings something different to it. But at the same time, obviously, you know, you've got to keep within the the world of the, of all the other films. Um, so there's a kind of a balancing act I think for the directors to bring as much, you know, something new but also to keep it consistent. Um, but I've loved it. You know, I've loved each one of the directors I've worked with have been great. Um, uh, it's been great to be part of the whole team of it as well. I mean, that'll be one of the sad things, it's that it's just a really fun bunch of people to to work with every day.

So they don't split you up into different camps?

They try to.

Do they?

Yeah. They try to pit you against each other.

So any great behind the scenes stories with the cast from some any of your favorite sort of memories?

Well, one of my, one of my favorite memories, I don't know if anyone's spoken to you about this before, but uh, one of my favorite memories was, you know, we were we this big climactic kind of confrontation scene between the two camps. Yes. And so we spent weeks and weeks on this set with green screen all around in the snow, supposedly in the forest. And there'd be, you know, my team at one end of the room. It was huge this set, and and then the Cullen's and everyone down the other end. And we were a long way away from each other. So we couldn't really talk to each other, you know, they so kept us apart like that. And then we were about to do this one big shot. And everything got ready, the cameras were in position, and then they said, action. And this music started playing in the sound stage. We were like, what's going on? And it was uh, like a rhythmic song, Sweet Dreams Are Made of This, I think it was. And suddenly the whole other, the Cullen end, all started doing this dance routine.

Really? Was it like a flash mob?

They'd secretly choreographed a dance routine and they did it, like as a like a dance off with us. And we just stood there and and

We're in your cape?

Well, you'll have to ask them when you see them. Yeah, no, we were all in our co we were ready to shoot, you know, this scene.

So did you like disrobe the cloaks and just

I just I just stood there and you know, just just watched them. I was agog.

Wow. Yeah. And those scenes, I kept thinking to myself, how freezing were you? Where did you shoot it? How cold was it?

No, that was the thing. I um, I assumed we were gonna be in a forest for night shoots, endless night shoots. So when we were having the costume, you know, talking about what costume I'd wear, I thought, you know, a bit of experience tells me, make sure it's nice and warm 'cause we're gonna be outside a lot. 'Cause you you know, you get so cold. Um, so I got this really warm costume and then turn up on the first day and we're not outside at all, we're in a studio under the lights and I was boiling the whole time.
