So let's talk a little bit about Idol. You've now you've you've had some months to reflect. Do you have like a favorite moment, or like a moment that sort of stands out?

I think just my favorite part about the experience all together were the people there. Uh, the other contestants were great. We were like a big family.

Yeah, because you seem, because different seasons you sort of sense whether or not people are getting along. You know, I think they always get along, but I think that your season they particularly, they seem, you all seemed very bonded.

Yes. Um, very bonded. We we confided in each other. We goofed off together. It was just, it was a lot of fun. Yeah. Tour bus was, there was never a dull moment on the tour, tour bus, that's for sure. The funniest thing about the tour was, I'm a huge Batman nerd, fan. Um

Yes, you call yourself a nerd all the time. I've read that.

I'm I'm very nerdy. Like very nerdy.

Well, Batman's not that nerdy. Would you like do the Comic-Con thing, like dress up and the whole thing?

Oh, I totally would. I haven't yet, but I'm very much looking forward to that. The fans knew that I'm really into Batman, so they would bring Batman stuff. So,

Tidy whities? Perhaps?

I totally got a pair of Batman Tidy whities. I'm not even kidding. You heard that. Awkward.

And did you wear those?

Maybe.

Are they lucky?

They're totally lucky underwear. Really? Like you've got a bat symbol on your underwear, like how awesome is that?

I won't ask you. I won't ask if you're wearing them today.

What about the Bobbleheads? Are you still collecting Bobbleheads? That's like a thing that I know people talk about so much.

I still have the Bobbleheads. I think we're at 23, 24 Bobbleheads.

Can you do, can you do a Bobblehead and I can? A Bobblehead? I want to see yours first. I think that was pretty awesome. So, I know you have a new album coming out. I do. Did you sort of have a vision of what you wanted to do from the start? Did it really change? Did it evolve, sort of from where it began?

It morphed a little bit. Just for me, I can definitely tell a difference from the songs I wrote with Jason of Lifehouse, it just has that flavor to stuff I did with uh keyboard player for Evanescence, you know, it's just kind of they add to what you're doing, which is cool. You know, I don't I don't want to put out a record that all sounds the same. Saying that, I think my record is really eclectic.

Well, when you're collaborating with so many different people too. And I know you played Lifehouse on the show too. So, did you sort of have that nerd moment again where you were

Absolutely.

sitting down with them and.

It was crazy. Um, the night I sang that song, Jason called me. I didn't, obviously didn't have his number, so it was an unknown number, and I'm like, should I answer this, should I not? So glad I did. I answered the phone. He said, Hey, man, this is Jason, just wanted to say you sang my song on American Idol tonight. I'm like, it took me a second to to realize what was going on, and I'm like, holy crap. Like, this is nuts. Um, it was cool. I went to his his studio and he, we recorded a couple and Just great guy.

And and thoughts on this season coming up, new judges.

I am excited and very nervous for this season of American Idol. I think what's been happening between Mariah and Nikki is pretty legit.

You do?

I do.

Okay. Do you have inside information in into that?

No, I have no inside information.

Okay.

But I know when watching the little video that leaked out, I saw the producer walk up like he was going to do something. And I've never seen him like not not knowing what to do, and he looked like he didn't know what to do.

Yeah. Because you know.

See, you know the producer and you know, when the producer gives that look, he was just the back of his head, but he didn't, he was looking, and I'm like, oh my goodness, this is legit. Like, it's cool. It's on.
