"Revolution" Star Tracy Spiridakos on Fight Scenes & Canadian Accents

I know. It's so cliché of a Canadian to say to a Canadian, but the way you say out. I can't help it sometimes it just pops out. Out. Out. I lost it a long time ago. Now, I don't even know how to speak like a Canadian, unless I go home.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. If you go back, I get made fun of all the time on set. Do you?

Yeah.

Why do people think Canadians are so, why is it so amusing to them? No one says that about like a French accent or like a British accent. They go, "Oh, that sounds great." But Canadians

I think it's funny. I don't know what it is.

I don't know either. They think we're a small country, we can't. We can take, we can take it. We can take a joke. That's what it is. We have a good, we have a good sense of humor. We're, we're starting a mini revolution in the United States and Los Angeles. There's a lot of Canadians.

That's right. We're taking over. We're totally, we're totally taking over.

Is there a Canadian way to say totally? But you're, you're Greek like are both your parents Greek? Your Greek origin.

Yes.

Um, let's talk about your background. This is the History Channel.

I am Greek, yeah. My dad was from a little village just south of Sparta, um called Aura Moosa and then my mom is from Athens.

What's your favorite, do you have a favorite sort of tradition or food or anything like that?

Um Oh man. Well, we just did the Easter thing so I um

Oh yeah, tell me about the the thing on the front lawn.

Oh yeah, the lamb on the ro we roasted. The lamb on the spit. Yeah. We roasted a lamb on the spit, but um this year it was a little bit cold. We usually we do it in the backyard, but we did it in the front yard, in the driveway. So people were walking by and they're like, "What the." We're like, "It's not a child." It's lamb.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Even and you might not even like that because people are vegetarian, right? They walk by and they're like, "What are you doing?" We're like, "I'm sorry." So it's not a Greek community in Winnipeg where people walk by and they knew what we're going, what was going on. Right.

No. I mean, we do it every year at my uncle's house so I think a good chunk of people knew what was going on, but um but my favorite dish, I don't know. I'm a big calamari fan. Moussaka, pastitsio. You know, pretty much anything that my parents make for me, I'm I'm right in.

So let's talk about the show a little bit, Revolution. Your character, you've changed a lot.

I've changed. Yeah.

Um but one one interesting thing that I wanted to ask you about is the locking of the eyes. You know, when you we call it can I swear here?

Yeah. We call these those eye-fucks.

I was going to. I was being really polite about it. You just went there.

Yeah. You've got brothers in you. They gave me away.

Yeah. Um yeah, yeah, you have you have a lot of those lingering eye-eyes. You like it's catchy, isn't it? It feels good. Just wearing the couch. She did it first.

I did. Sorry. Um yeah, yeah, there's there's some there's a lot of those. She's got a lot of intensity season two. But more of the the the eye-locks happen more with Monroe than than anybody else.

Yes. A flirt scene or a fight scene? What do you prefer shooting?

Oh. I think because of done loads of like loads of fight, I love fight scenes, especially doing any type of sword and and stuff like that. I I have so much fun doing it. But because I haven't done so many flirt scenes, there's only been a few in there that it's a different thing for me to do. So that's that's always. And plus because I get so nervous. I'm like, "Ooh." That's actually what I do, yeah.

And that's why you're the coolest chick ever, because you're like, you're like, "Yeah, I've done loads of like knife wielding and all that kind of stuff. But the flirting I'm not so good at."

I get a little nervous.

Okay, um kissing or cry scene?

Kissing. I prefer it. Look at who we work with.

Yeah, true. Yeah. Well, let's talk about your, you talk about the fight scenes and that, like you're actually really good at like the knife wielding and you know.

I love that stuff. I really do. Like I was training, while we were in Austin, I was training, I was taking Krav Maga lessons twice a week and um I used to kickbox and stuff like that. I just I I don't know if it's I I mean it must be my brother's uh influence for sure.

You really need to thank your brothers.

I do all the time. My brothers are the are my best friends in the world. They're amazing. They're awesome. But yeah, no. I mean, they used to wake me up by pulling out strand by strand of my hair. That's how I would wake up.

My brothers were nice. Did they shave off your eyebrows?

No, but they did cut a chunk of my hair right here. They took it, cut it to about there. When I didn't know and I went and had a shower. They did it while sleeping. Had a shower, put my hair up in a ponytail and it just stuck it was just sticking straight out. While we were in high school. Yeah. Really? Just just exactly the time you want that to happen. Right? Yeah.

Okay, so I want to do um a little game. It's a mini revolution game and it's about like going without things, because obviously no electricity. But we're not gonna do that with you. Um so I want to give you an either or scenario, what would you rather do without. Okay? Okay. So first one is, would you rather do without hot water for a week or no cell for a week?

No cell phone?

No cell phone. You'd rather have no cell phone. You don't want to give up the hot water?

No. I've had to do that travelling. It sucks. It absolutely sucks. Totally sucks.

Okay. No movies and TV for a year. A year for one year or you have to give up gaming and music?

Yeah. Ooh, that's tough.

Yeah. We like to make things tough around here.

I would, I guess I'd give up, I need my my my movies and my TV.

Would you rather go one month with only 5 hours sleep or one month cutting out a meal a day?

Uh, I'd rather go without the sleep. Which we do anyways at work, so I'm ready for that.

That's true. Don't give up food. Oh yeah, when you when you go to set, obviously like there's certain shows on TV where the girls are glam. Glam, glam, glam, glam all the time. And you're the opposite. What's the sort of process of like dirtying you up? How long does that actually take?

Um, it doesn't take too too long. Like we do, they go, you know, they do the style the hair and then the make-up. They just do like a base, get rid of like all the blemishes and my acne. Yay. And then um and then we go and then they just have this like little pounce thing that they pounce with you, put dirt in your face. But I'm all for it. I actually think people look sexier with the dirt on them.

I, you know, I agree. And the hair's all. I like that messy look.

Except when I go out like that after because I have. It looks a little bit weird.

Yeah. Well, or like yeah, we're going out, we're trying to like get last call or whatever. We're running to go out and I'm like, "Whatever, it's fine. It's fine." And then I just look like that girl that has dirt all over her face. This was so much fun.
