Hi, we're the Pierces and we're at the Young Hollywood Studio.
This next song is called You'll Be Mine and it's our first single.
We could bring a blanket for the grass. Cover up your eyes so you don't see. If you let me go, I'm running fast. Oh, one, two, three. Come, one, two, three. We could watch a blackbird cross the skies. We could count the leaves left on the trees. We could count the tear drops in our eyes. Oh, one, two, three. Yeah, one, two, three.
I'm Olly Phevney here at the Young Hollywood Studio. These lovely ladies, Allison and Catherine, Pierce. How are you?
Hello. Good. How are you?
You are the Pierces.
I'm good. I'm good. We are.
And that's because your last name is Pierce.
Mm-hm.
You're sisters. Did you figure that out yourself?
Oh, well I'll tell you what, not just a pretty face, this one. I worked it out. I was there this morning, I was like, hang on. The Pierces, Allison Pierce, Catherine Pierce. Yeah. Got it.
Some people don't get it.
Do they really?
No, they don't.
It's get, you know, if it is something tough that's to work out, but that's what's smart about it. Yeah. I know how the sister thing happened. That's from birth. Um, but how did the band come about?
We went to university briefly and, um, our our guitar player at the time sent out a mixtape to a to a label.
break your fingers on a spinning wheel. Don't make a sound. Or drop a third and now you're taken for all time.
And you were at university then?
We call it college.
College. Is that college? Because in England you go college then university.
Yeah, we call it college.
College. But I mean you but you can also call it a university, I guess. University sounds like you're a lot more intelligent.
It does.
So let's go for university. Even though you already did say that you didn't complete it.
No, we did not. No, we got a record deal and we said, see ya.
Yeah. You didn't think about carrying on your whole education thing.
No.
This Young Hollywood, let's send out that message. Kids, education, pointless.
All three of us, none of us carried on. It's fine.
And then you've been in England mostly?
Um, well, our our most recent deal is was, um, we were signed out of London. Um, so we went over there to promote the record and it did really well. It went gold. Which is exciting.
Not bad.
Yeah. Yeah. Um, so now we've come back home to promote it here.
You tested the British ears. Yeah. If it works for the British. I liked it. We've got good ears. In case you didn't know. Then you come over here. Yeah. And then it was exciting, like you've done Glastonbury. Yeah. Which is massive.
We did Glastonbury. We did a lot of festivals last summer.
Nice. What was it what was your favorite?
Uh, we both liked T in the Park and V Festival.
V Festival. Yeah.
They were both. V Festival was great 'cause it was just it was like a it was a beautiful day.
Seven months to the day since I saw your face. You're on me earth like a fire holding out till the bitter end.
And being in England, what did you enjoy most about England?
Um, I like the people.
Didn't even have to fish for it. Got that straight away.
I like the humor, I like the people. London's beautiful, the countryside there is beautiful. Um, and there is good food there these days. You can find if you if you search for it. It's just not British.
Right.
But the Indian food, great Chinese restaurants.
Yeah, just none of it's British.
Exactly. Fish and chips. You can't go wrong.
Fish and chips are good. Nice fish and chips. Um, and who were your inspirations?
Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, they were a huge inspiration to us, you know, because of the harmony and everything. Um,
You're you're good at them, aren't you?
We are. Yeah.
Do that, go on.
We are.
See. That's just so good. On the spot as well. I didn't expect you to go for that. That's great. I love that.
I hurried past the place you like to drink alone. Seven months to the day you left me here alone. On the seventh moon. And now I think of you.
And your your music's been on lots of TV shows.
Mm-hm.
Uh, Pretty Little Liars.
Yeah. It's secret. Yeah. It's a theme song.
And then you're actually on Gossip Girl a few years ago.
We were on Gossip Girl.
You got Coldplay coming up on tour. If you could tour with anyone else, who who would you want to tour with? Who. Um,
It's a tough question if if you do say someone you can still change your mind in the future.
Okay, good.
Um, Fleet Foxes, The Kills, Adele.
She's taking a bit of time out now, isn't she, Adele?
I know. She can open for us if she's, you know, feeling.
If she's feeling a bit under the weather. Yeah. The Pierces. If you haven't heard of them, you will soon. You have now. You have now. Now. Now. It won't be forgotten.
