I'm joined in the Young Hollywood studio by the gorgeous, lovely, Jana Kramer. How are you?
I'm good. How are you?
I'm good. It's good to see you.
It's really good to see you.
It's a lovely way to start the day.
This is a lovely way to start the day. I was very excited to know that I was coming here this morning.
Because I was here. Because you I was like, oh no, seriously. I was super excited.
Okay, I love that. I love that.
So much changes every time I see you, you're like acting and then you're taking over the world in music and it's there's no stopping you. It's amazing.
And you know what? It's uh, it's been really fun. I love music, I really do.
And you've made the transition very well. You know, a lot of people do try it and for you it seemed to be, boom, you're in.
Well, I mean, when I was working on One Tree Hill, I was starting to write and stuff and so I gave some of my songs to the creator of the show and I was like, I don't know if this is good or if it's bad, but let me know what you think. And then the next day I was reading the script and it was like Alex is now singing music. And I was like, yes. I love that. Um but anyway, let's talk about the new single, love. For love, love, love. I still believe in you. Love. Love. I love to love.
You do love to love.
I do. This single was written, um by my best friend Cat Gravitt and Jimmy Robbins and I was going through some stuff and I was like, you know what? I just, I don't believe in it anymore. I'm done. And she called me the next day and she's like, I have a song for you. She's like, I wrote it for you. I don't care what you do with it, but I want you to sing it and believe it because I know deep down there's that little girl in you that still believes in love and it's not just about relationships. It's about the love between a mother and a daughter or son and just paying it forward and giving back and that to me is, you know, love. I love it. I love it. Love. It's everywhere. I love. No, but I mean with Caitlin giving keys, I mean there's just so many ways that you can spread love and give back and pay it forward and that's what I I hope this song does for people.
The backstory to love, the video which I've seen is if you haven't seen this video, you should and just have some little tissues handy. It's very emotional. But yeah, this is amazing. This is I did. I might this is no, not a lie. This is I mean I know you're a very strong man, but I did. I did feel a little I did. I cried. No, never. Um but yeah, tell us about the backstory to it.
When I knew that the song was going to be the single, I went to my management and I said, look, this is what I want to do and I really hope you guys can back me up on this. I said, I want to find a charity that works with children, you know, orphanages or building homes for people that don't have homes in either Haiti, Africa or Honduras. And I want to go there, film my music video there and I want to show what I feel like true love looks like in giving back. So, my manager and I found this amazing charity called Hearts to Honduras and I filmed my music there and ended up falling in love with the whole entire village, all the kids, the orphanage and I'm actually sponsoring the little girl in the video. Her name is Angela.
And now, you know, going back to your music, you've got to open up for amazing people, tour with amazing people. Some people that you love, you know, I always see on your Twitter, oh my God, I'm with this person today. What's been your favorite moment so far of your of your musical career?
Opening up for Blake Shelton last summer was pretty freaking awesome.
I had a feeling you were going to say that.
That was incredible, especially when he's singing that song, Austin, and all everyone, you know, brings their lights out and their camera and I'm just like I mean, I listened to this song in high school and cried. And now I'm here and I opened for you and this is crazy and it was pretty neat. Also, Darius Rucker because he's the coolest guy ever. After every show, we'd be playing ping pong and Cornhole and having a good old time.
Cornhole?
Cornhole.
Don't know what that is. Really? Didn't make it to England. No, what's that? What's Cornhole?
There's these boards. They're like thick, like this big and they're probably about 13 feet away from each other and you have to throw a beanbag into the hole. So if you get it in the hole, it's three points.
Okay.
And if not, then you have to just get it on the board.
Okay. I could do this.
It's a really good game. It's fun.
Next Young Hollywood segment we're playing Cornhole. Cornhole challenge.
Yes, deal. Oh, I'll kill you.
Well, you're going in strong.
I'm pretty good with throwing beanbags.
Who would you like to be on stage with next? Like if you could just write your future. Anyone that you haven't performed with that you just, you know,
I'd love to tour with Tim McGraw. But I mean, heck, I I don't I'd love to go with anybody.
Well, Tim watches this show. He's a big fan of fan of mine. And he watches all the time. So Tim, make it happen. That was a terrible lie. Um because of love, we're going to ask you a few questions. Oh, okay. On love. But don't get scared. It's not not not nothing to be afraid of. All right. Favorite love song?
Gosh, I listen to such depressing music. So you shouldn't find this hard. Oh, Celine Dion, Because You Loved Me. That's good. Oh, because you loved me. I played that in the car.
I bet you do. Or All By Myself. Oh, but yeah. Um, favorite, I think I I could guess the answer to this, but maybe I couldn't. Favorite romantic movie. Ooh, go ahead. I would have said The Notebook.
No. That's good, but I Pride and Prejudice. The Notebook's second.
Okay. Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Darcy. Okay. Mr. Darcy. Yeah, but see you're not going in for it love. You're going into that for a crush. That's wrong.
No, Mr. Darcy, they end up together. Right, okay. And it's amazing and they have like this they they date like there it's just their whole love story.
The Notebook wins. The Notebook wins.
Okay, fine. You asked me though.
Okay, I know, I know but I just I'm very passionate about The Notebook. You did it. Do not upset me. Okay. I wrote you 365. Favorite flowers to have delivered?
White roses. White roses. Okay, that's nice. Love roses.
What's romantic date? What's romantic date? Not that you've had it. It could be what you would, you know, anyone could whisk you away or anything.
I'm a very chill chill girl. So if I could have the most romantic date, it would be a picnic somewhere.
Okay. Jana Kramer, just watch her video and cry your heart out. You'll be seeing this girl everywhere on tour with Tim McGraw next year.
