What's up everybody? We are Alex and Sierra. And we're going to sing our single called Scarecrow. Alex & Sierra: I'm standing still without you. Emptiness to feel. I wish that I could say what's on my mind. The straw that fills your heart said you would never have to feel. You said that you just need a little time.
I'm so happy to have you guys back.
We love being back.
Sierra and I called each other last night.
Yeah, we planned our outfits.
We really just showed up looking kind of the same. It's kinda crazy.
I know you had jean shorts on, right? And I had black leggings on. Right. Not each other's clothes but.
So it's great to have you back. A lot has happened. Sort of, you know, we, the last time you were here, you had just won X Factor. So let's talk about Scarecrow, your first single. Um, people have already covered it. That's our classic. People have already covered the song and how long has it been, you know, out for? Not even that long.
I know, dude. That's so cool. It's It's the coolest thing. Actually there were some there were a couple of covers up like within five days of the song going out. It's crazy that people are able to learn it. I I still don't know it very well. Like I'm still learning the lyrics. Yeah. But no, I think that's the coolest thing ever. That's sort of been something on our bucket list is like have someone sing lyrics that we've written. So that's a really.
Well, super meaningful to us because we wrote the song too. It's not like it would still be cool to have a song pitched to you and you sing it and other people cover it but it means a lot more when like these are words like we came up with. I feel like a child in a sense. Like your music is it like People are gonna hate me for saying that. Like their children in a way. People talk about their songs like their children. It's like pick your favorite song on your album they say. It's like picking a favorite child. In a sense. Um, was there
Well, I'm the favorite child in my family.
You're the only child. Alex & Sierra: Standing out the window and I'm out here in the street. You stand there like a scarecrow and I'm begging you to speak. You used to be my solid ground. I'm drowning in the sea. I just want to believe in you and me. Yeah, I just want to believe in you and me. Hey, Hey. Hey, Hey.
I know the album's coming out at some time. Some time, yes. Are you excited? Are you proud? How do you feel about it?
I don't know. We're super excited too because like we want especially the people who aren't super into Scarecrow, hopefully they'll find something else they like because the album's really diverse.
I love just watching you guys perform that you still stare at each other when you sing. It's so cute.
That's It's kinda I don't The thing is I don't know where to look because I I wanna look at the mic but then that crosses my eyes. And then I can't look at other people because then I'll freak out. That's what I talk about. I should have stopped looking at the mic then. Alex & Sierra: These like these are buried deep inside. Each and every word. And hide them underneath these lonely trees. The harvest moon is wicked eye. I know that you've been hurt. But I swear I'm either good or never leave. This is where it starts tonight. If you open up your heart tonight.
Okay, so we have some Twitter questions from your fans. Ready?
Sweet.
Gina Identifier wants to know what was the last album you bought?
Jason Mraz just came out with a new album, so that was probably the last one that I bought.
I can't think of the last album because we went to um Oh, Nickel Creek. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. We love I'm gonna let you take this one. Sorry. We're kind of obsessed with this band called Nickel Creek. And they broke up like seven years ago.
Nine years ago.
And they just got back together so we freaked out. And their music is And their new album is really it's killer.
Okay. Wild and Easy wants to know who would you love to go on tour with?
Hmm. We say this I mean it's Jason Mraz and Ed Sheeran would be. Yeah, those would be our top two. John Mayer would be really fun too.
One time actually we um when we got we got to meet Ed. So we were Alex was like, you know, so what would what would we have to do to get on This is like a year and a half ago. We played this you know that YouTube video um it was like It's climbing in your windows, snatchin' your people up. It's like a news clip and they made it a song.
I don't know, but you make it sound good.
Okay, yeah. Anyways, you don't sing all the lyrics. But we do a cover of it and we sing it and Ed was like, If you sing that song on the show, you will become legends. And you will you can tour with me. And we never did.
No way! But we thought about it. Alex & Sierra: Hey, yeah. Hey, yeah. He said you'd open up for me. Well, nothing's what it seems to be. How can I make you feel again. Only you can make me real again.
Alex, Sierra Food. That's the Twitter handle. They might slightly like you. Wants to know what were your first impressions of each other.
I mean, he was sitting in the back of his truck playing guitar. And I was just like as superficial as it is. I was like, oh my god, he's so cute. And he's playing guitar and he surfs because there was surf on. I was like just dibs. Like I was with a bunch of girlfriends and I was like, none of you. No.
That's right. My first impression she was, you know, she's very beautiful. And I don't know. We went on a date. And that was really what solidified it. We went to this really cool island in uh, Daytona. And we went out on my boat.
Is that your idea? That's so smooth. Was it my idea? Probably. Yeah, you told me to wait on the edge of this pier and he came up in his boat and I hopped on.
Was he backlit? Were you backlit? My buddy was driving and I stood on the front like I'm coming to you my darling.
Oh my gosh. I'm getting all warm thinking about that. It's so cute. Not in a bad way. Don't be.
Anyways, what was the inspiration behind Scarecrow? Patty Kinsey wants to know.
Well, it kinda started just like every guy ever that doesn't know how to communicate their feelings well. No really, it's just written to be about a relationship like you're dating but we really wanted the song to relate to more people than just a couple. It can be when you can't communicate with your best friend or you really just wanna get them to talk and you want to believe in your friendship. But um, yeah. I mean, it's based on us.
One more question. A K S T want to know how are your personalities similar or similar or different from each other?
Alex is constantly happy always. Like there is nothing that gets him upset except for fantasy football. Um, tennis.
Traffic.
Tennis, traffic. Yeah, those are like my three. I'm really I have really bad road rage. I have really terrible sportsmanship. And I hate losing in fantasy football. Like yeah, because I mean I'm happy but I'm also really sensitive so I get upset about things. And then
And my advice to her is just, Why you upset? She's like, Cuz this sucks. I'm like, Well, just don't be upset. I just want to vent. And once I say I once I'm like, you know what? It's fine. It's fine. I got it all out. I'm learning every day. I'm learning.
I love these interviews because I learn more that she just tells you what she needs. I'm like, oh, okay, now I know.
