Call me down. I'm feeling so exotic right now. I'm hotter than the tropics. Can I please tell you I think I didn't record it? No, that's great. That's a first. Oops. I was trying to record it. I did a whole amazing take. I introduced everyone in the studio and everything in the studio, but I didn't press the record button. I'm sure you're doing great. Power starting. Priyanka and I are talking about the use of pens in the studio. Pens are important. She's a pen stealer, so just be aware if you ever hang out with her. She's going to. It's great to have you here. I know you just flew in yesterday from India.
I did.
So the new single, exotic. It's such a great summer anthem. It's one of those songs that you hear for the first time, you feel like you already know it. Good. And I know you collaborated with Pitbull and you shot the video in Miami. Just sort of take me through working with Pitbull, sort of how it came about and and the single and the first time, you know, you guys laid it down and that whole experience.
We actually made the song in Ibiza. We were perfect place for it to be exotic. Hard life. Hard life, I tell you. But we were in Ibiza. Red, um, RedOne is the um producer of the album. So he said, you know, I need a I need a word to describe you, PC. I need a word to describe you and he goes, you're exotic and that's how the song came about. He just said, you're exotic and that's what the song should be. Then we wrote that bit and we always wanted a rapper on it. And, you know, it was a very Pitbull sort of song. So we sent it to him. He loved it. He put his lyrics on it, came back and then I put that little Indian Hindi bit in it and that's how the song happened.
And the video shooting the video in Miami. I love Miami. I love Miami. Where exactly was that that you shot it?
Many many places in Miami, but I just I don't know how people work in Miami. I don't think they do.
I don't think they do either. The studio that I was in, the guy came in at 11:00 wearing shorts with his dog. And the dog was inside. He's like, I go for a walk in the morning, come to work for like three hours and go home and sleep. They have like the most chilled life ever. Sort of unlike your life as it is right now. Cuz your life like you said before we started rolling is you basically live on a plane.
I do. Yes. And it's fine. I love it. I mean, see, my point is, when you're young, you can do all sorts of crazy things. Later when are you going to have the time all the energy to do it? Right.
And I think you've said before. You've said before you don't really need that much sleep. You've said you don't need that much you can just you have that you have that energy and that drive.
I love what I do. I just love everything when I do, whether it's making music, acting, traveling. I enjoy it. I'll sleep when I die.
There you go. So, I know you're working with the same people that work with Gaga. Same music people. What what is what's that team like?
Well, they're amazing. I mean, Troy manages me. He's one of my managers, the other one's Anjula Acharia Bath from Desi Hits and then Red, of course, has worked with Gaga so much. But with with me it's a completely different sort of style, a very different kind of thing. Um, but they're amazing. I have an incredible team. Everyone.
Right. Well, I think you're so creative, she's so creative. I think what's nice is when they encourage people to be who they are.
Totally. And that's exactly what when we got in the studio, that's exactly what Red wanted to sort of have, you know, my music be me. And you know, it doesn't have to be like anybody else, but just to, you know, bring out my personality. So I wrote a lot of the songs with him, made the songs with him and and it was Ibiza, so it was fun.
Oh my gosh. Does that change too, like when you're writing music? The environment must change sort of what comes out of it.
You have to be inspired. Hence, a studio near the beach. And you're talking about Miami life. I lay down there and you pretend like you're working on lyrics and being creative and actually just have a martini. There's a beat. There's there's a there's a song.
Oh my gosh, I love it. So you're working on a new album.
Yes.
But no release date yet. Just still working.
Yes.
And I know you've said you've you've there's around how many songs have been written so far?
I've written a lot of them because I mean, being an actor, I really didn't know much about making music. So and I'm someone who, well, a little bit of a control freak. I need to make sure what I'm doing is right.
Again, we're going to be best friends. A little bit of a control freak. So I've made about 40 songs. Oh my God. Yeah, but we'll keep just going. So you were working in Ibiza, you weren't just
No, no, I wasn't. Yeah. So I wasn't vegetating.
How do you choose then? I mean, how how would you choose? Cuz I'm terrible at making decisions. I feel like, oh, I don't know if I should put that on the album. That's why the album's not ready because you can't figure it out.
Yeah, because we can't figure it out. I know like a few of the singles that'll go on, but I can't figure it out yet.
So break down for me the difference between because you worked with Will. I. Am before on another single. Him versus Pitbull. They're so different.
Are they? They are so different. They're both great like at these anthem type songs. Oh great hit makers. And they're both amazingly creative. Yeah. But Will's a little bit more quiet and he's he's just genius. You just see him in the studio, he'll he sits alone in the studio and then he goes, let me put that in. He just be like something, he'll move his hands around and be like, yeah, that's the beat. He just he's amazing to just sit and watch him make the song. They should just had a camera on him.
I think we did. We did. After before he realized. Right, right. And then. And then he was like, is that going to stay there the whole time? No, we'll take it out. But he was he was so sweet, he was so great. And I think he is just creatively such a genius. He knew exactly how to market the song, he knew what we should do and all of that. And Pit was just fun. He came on set, breezed in, laughing, joking, you know, made everything funny and was great. I love the dancing between you two in the video. Yeah. Because it's so his trademark thing and then you're so sexy in the video. The two of you are great dynamic. You have a lot of chemistry on camera.
Yeah. That's a good thing.
Do is that something it's just I guess it's just either there or it isn't at the end of the day.
It is. It is.
Who would not feel they had didn't have chemistry with you though? I mean, I'm sure they're thrilled to be to be hanging out with you and doing in the video.
I'd like to believe that.
So let's talk about Disney Planes. Yes. So, Dane Okay, I love Dane Cook's name in the his name is Dusty Crophopper. And he's a plane that's afraid to fly so high. It's he's a he's a crop dusting airplane. Only Disney could come up with something this brilliant. It is so cute. He's afraid to fly high. Um but his so but he's afraid of heights. Basically. And now he overcomes it and of course he gets onto this um um a world championship like race for planes and that's where he meets me and I'm the Pan-Asian champion Ishani and she's a sexy little plane, you know, she's sassy. She's shocking. big shocker. So are you the love interest?
Yeah.
And you have a song on it too.
I'm the crush.
You're the crush. He crushes on me. The cutest line, okay, in the movies, he sees her Ishani and Ishani's she I turn around and I walk off and he goes, ooh, look at her propeller. She's so aerodynamic. That's adorable. Oh my gosh, I love it. And wasn't there a line in the film, there's something you're you're one of the racers and it's kind of like, a woman can't do that something like that.
That's where I did a playback thing for Disney where I sang a song for them. So one of them because she's a star, okay, she's a celebrity plane from where she comes from. So the press conference that she's doing and her a PR person's like, no more questions and and some guy asks her, do you really think this game this race can be won by a girl? And she's like, I want to answer that question. And I go into this Bollywood song with like backup dancers who are planes and it's so funny. I can't you have to see that video. So funny.
So if Dusty's biggest fear is flying high, what is your biggest fear?
Uh that I was mean to him in the movie. I can't tell you more.
Really? You weren't mean to you weren't mean to Dane?
No, I wasn't mean to Dane. Ishani was mean to Dusty.
But in life what is your biggest fear? Do you have any fears? Really? At anything.
Like I said, I'm a control freak, right? I don't like failing at anything.
Yeah, you I think you've said before, you just keep going until you succeed. Just keep trying. Go for it.
And um if his dream is competing, he wants to compete with like all the aerial planes. What is your biggest dream right now? Cuz you've accomplished so much and you're so young.
My biggest dream is to reach a place where I don't have to compete.
Really? We don't get there. But do we ever get to that place?
Nope. That's the point. So you just keep going, raise the bar higher and higher.
You're just you're just going to keep going. So you do but you do sing you do sing in this in this film.
Yes, I do.
So there's going to be are you on the soundtrack? We filmed the trailer I think. Yeah. more than in the movie. voice acting. Yeah. Did you use you just use your own voice? Did you
Yeah. It was just so much. I did a little bit of.
Oh, can you teach me? Just a little bit of. You have to make your eyes big.
Eyes big.
Even when you're in the booth and no one sees you?
No, that's when it doesn't matter. That's when the heels come off and the jacket comes off and I lay down.
Do you know, but would you would you when you go to work for a sound kind of thing, do you dress up, do you dress up to play the part?
No.
You go in your pajamas.
Yeah. The the booth has to be the most comfortable place in the world. So it's pajamas and just comfortable.
I have nothing more to say. That was perfect. Thank you for coming in. You were delightful.
