Young Hollywood

What up, guys? I'm here with Miss Lauren Gray.

Loren Gray

What up? Hello.

Young Hollywood

First of all, I'm loving all of this. I see you with your Chanel sneakers on. Your nails pop in.

Loren Gray

Yeah. My boyfriend got me these for Valentine's Day.

Young Hollywood

Oh, shout out boyfriend. That's so sweet. So, wait, hold on. I have to say this. You have well over 50 million followers across the board as far as social media is concerned. Do you feel like the world is like your oyster right now?

Loren Gray

Not really.

Young Hollywood

Lying. You're such a liar.

Loren Gray

I feel I'm not. Because I feel like there's always room for improvement and my and my biggest fear is, you know, losing touch. Because even with so many people looking at you, it's it's so easy to to fall off.

Young Hollywood

To fall off. You know, I actually kind of believe you on that one. Yeah. That's pretty dope.

Loren Gray

Yeah. You have to constantly keep up with it. It's a lot of pressure. But I've never ever once felt like, "Oh my gosh, I'm on top of the world."

Young Hollywood

Really? Ever?

Loren Gray

Never? No, until I'm Beyoncé, I'll never feel that way.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Loren Gray

You know what I mean?

Young Hollywood

That's what's up. You're like gorgeous in person.

Loren Gray

Thank you.

Young Hollywood

Like, real talk, I saw your music video for "Queen." Oh, yeah. Jesus take the wheel. Yes, you were giving me facial Olympics all day.

Loren Gray

Thank you.

Young Hollywood

For real. Yeah. It was such a vibe.

Loren Gray

That was the goal. It was like Britney, but like 2019. It was a good time.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. It was it was an awesome video. Please please you're she's so like down to earth. Like, "Yeah, it was cool. No big deal. Like 50 million followers. No big deal." Like, for real, how was it, like, shooting the video?

Loren Gray

It was awesome. It was um a lot of the treatment was my idea and then we got Ariel involved to, you know, produce and direct the video and she did an amazing job. And she really took my vision and made it exactly what I wanted. Like, it couldn't have been any more on point.

Young Hollywood

Isn't that the best? Her hair, everything.

Loren Gray

Yeah. Right down to the outfit.

Young Hollywood

Oh, that is the best. So, what was like the inspiration behind this song?

Loren Gray

When I wrote the song, I kind of needed a boost of confidence. I was thinking about, you know, the girls that follow me and I was like, I feel like everyone needs that, you know?

Young Hollywood

Absolutely.

Loren Gray

And I've definitely been mistreated in relationships, whether it be friendships or, you know, boyfriends and um it was a really empowering song and I felt like I needed one of those.

Young Hollywood

That's what's up. I love it. Who's like your favorite artist that you are like in love with right now?

Loren Gray

I have three top favorite artists. It would be Eminem is my favorite artist of all time. I know every song. Every underground song. I have every album.

Young Hollywood

First First Eminem song that comes to mind. Can you spit it?

Loren Gray

Without Me. Um two trailer park girls go around the outside, around the outside, around the outside.

Young Hollywood

Yes. I love it. So Eminem who else?

Loren Gray

Eminem, Rihanna.

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Loren Gray

Yes. I was binge-watching her music videos last night because I think she's so brilliant. "Man Down" is one of my favorite music videos ever.

Young Hollywood

Stop. So many people mention that music video. That song is everything. And that music video is so powerful.

Loren Gray

Yes. And I actually I I just seen it like recently and it became one of my favorite videos because it's there's nothing, how do I say this? She doesn't hold back.

Young Hollywood

Mhm.

Loren Gray

There's no censor.

Young Hollywood

Yep.

Loren Gray

And it's very real and it's it's real life, you know? And I think that I think that she's just that girl. She's that one.

Young Hollywood

I love how you like said to yourself. It's like she's you know, you know what I mean?

Loren Gray

Um and Taylor Swift. I love Taylor I love her live performances. I watched her Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix and I cried as soon as she came out. I was like, "Oh." Like, that's going to be me one day.

Young Hollywood

I saw her at the AMAs. She opened the AMAs and I was there and I was so excited. Like, you know that feeling that you get when you're just like,

Loren Gray

Yeah. I got it.

Young Hollywood

Oh, you're so cute. I love it. So, do you feel like there's like pressure to keep up with your you're doing?

Loren Gray

Yes. 100%.

Young Hollywood

Like, before you go to bed, like, what are some thoughts that you're just like, "Oh my God, why?" I'm just curious. I'm like

Loren Gray

I think that the biggest problem that I face is because I come from social media and I'm transitioning into music.

Young Hollywood

Right.

Loren Gray

Is I'm so wrapped up in in social media. Like, if I if a picture doesn't get a certain amount of likes, I get a little bit freaked out and I'm like, "Oh my God." You know, they don't like me anymore.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Crazy.

Loren Gray

And recently, I've been trying to get out of that headspace because, you know, A, it's not healthy.

Young Hollywood

Boom.

Loren Gray

And B, it doesn't matter. Um because the music will speak for itself, you know?

Young Hollywood

Right. So, really quick, what is like one thing that you do to kind of like get out of that headspace of like always trying to be on and always have like the hottest picture? Like, what are what is your process?

Loren Gray

Recently, I've just been trying to put my phone down. I think it's the biggest thing because you get on your phone, at least for me, and I start comparing myself to everyone that I see on my feed. And I'm sure people look at my page and they compare themselves to me. Like, it's just not healthy and it's not realistic. And I I was talking about this the other day. That that internet is such an illusion. Like, I see girls that I like worship on Instagram and I'm like, "Oh my gosh, she's so beautiful." Then you see them in person and they're just normal people. And you're like, I don't know why I was so excited. Like, you know, you're beautiful but you're normal. And it's um it's something that I, you know, find myself doing a lot and something I have to kind of

Young Hollywood

Gotcha.

Loren Gray

stop.

Young Hollywood

Gotcha. Well, listen, I'm so glad that you finally kind of like had an epiphany and realized that that's what it is and, you know, congratulations on everything. This is literally just the beginning for you. Um, yeah, so congrats on everything. I cannot wait to see what's next.

Loren Gray

Yes. Thank you.
